Families and kids running around on a Tuesday afternoon. Better than the news portrayed the area.

I went to enjoy the architecture, not to attend service, but the synagogue is beautiful with stained glass and a large dome. Has more buildings on site including a fellowship hall and preschool (elementary? Not sure).

The cantor and the rabbi are a married couple, and they are both excellent at conducting the magnificent service of worship. The quality of the music, especially the organist, is of the highest order. And the building is simply magnificent.

As a new converted to the Reform movement, I really enjoyed keeping Friday nights and attending to the Shabbat service to this amazing Shul. The Rabbi was amazed welcomer to the newcomers, he loved the Persian people like me and even supportive the LGBT community in the town. I missed it in my heart so badly but I will promise to return to worship when I come back and visit friends in Portland for sure.

Of course all Jews have different and diverse opinions on all topics. This is a reform Jewish synagogue. We believe in Reform Judaism. When asked if the world has been perfected, or when asked are we free to stop healing and mending the world, or when asked if we are free to stop fighting injustice, or when asked are we in the messianic age, the answer of the Reform Jew has always been, "not yet."

Can anyone come to your place of worship? Even non-Jews?

God I hope so.

I am interested in becoming Jewish. I am Catholic but have always felt Jewish. (My maternal grandfather was an Episcopalian, but I believe his family had been Jewish.) Is there someone I can talk to about this? Thank you so much!

Contact the Rabbi whose email is on the website. You may very well have a Jewish soul. Keep exploring.

Will be there this summer and would like to attend Friday evening services. What time do they begin during the summer?
