This is literally the most terrible place I have ever lived. They did not bother to clean the apartment between tenants when I moved in. The entire building had a smell of rotting materials, the washer and dryer both had serious issues. The dryer didn’t work at all due to negligence. The lint hadn’t been cleaned for years and was a huge fire hazard. I can’t even tell you how many times maintenance came over for one thing or another and the majority of the time things were not resolved. With the housing market they can get away with charging $1800/month for a total dump. It’s exploitation. That place shouldn’t be more than $1000 / month. We thought we’d be getting a unit with ac but they gave us a unit with the giant incredibly loud and not remotely effective window cooling unit. The only thing that window unit pumped out was noise. The ventilation and HVAC was absolutely terrible. In the winter we were freezing, and in the summer we were so incredibly hot. I have never paid such a high monthly rate to live in a place so disgusting, smelly, and miserable. At night you could hear rats scampering and squeaking outside of the window. This place is a health hazard. My current mortgage payment is $1685 for a lovely 3 br. home. After utilities at ascend I was paying almost 2 thousand/ month. Save yourself the stress and rent somewhere else if you can.

We’ve had 2 leaks within the last month which unfortunately just comes along with apartment living. They both happened on a weekend and Troy was on top of it at our door within the hour to help get it taken care of. The first leak required a lot more attention but Troy kept us updated on the status of the plumber and the second leak on our washer he was in and out super quick and replaced our water lines. Without him being on your maintenance team we would’ve had a lot more issues and been a lot more frustrated!

Still waiting on moving in - Kellie has been the best help for my partner and I as we navigate renting for the first time. The unit we toured was very nice and kept up well, building looked to be in good condition & the outside of the property looked great!! Thank you for the transparency and help with the process, can't wait to move in!

I have never had such a difficult time dealing with maintenance issues and leasing office communication than I have while living at Ascend - and I've lived in a house WITHOUT a working toilet. Upon move-in in July 2020, half the appliances didn't work: the oven didn't heat up at all, and the dryer vent hadn't even been cleaned out so clothes would not get dry unless we ran three cycles (after maintenance cleaned it out, they commented that there was "like 5 years of lint back there"), and the entire building could have gone up in flames from the amount of lint that was removed. Incredibly, our building LITERALLY CAUGHT FIRE 7/26/2021 and we were forced to vacate the property and find somewhere else to live. They didn't even email all of the residents whose apartments had been affected by the fire and I met another couple who was understandably furious that they only had two days to get all of their things out of the building before demolition. Additionally on move-in, the carpet in the entryway wasn't properly tacked down (we only knew after tripping over it while moving heavy furniture). It never got fixed because maintenance claimed they could never get ahold of anyone and never left messages so they closed the request. Twice. When we moved in, there were gaping holes in the drywall in the water heater closet that caused serious paint fumes to leak into our apartment from the unit under construction below ours that made us and our pets physically ill for TWO DAYS before anyone would come to patch the hole - even maintenance commented that they were nauseous when they finally showed up after we threatened to call the health department. Management told us no one could come open windows to vent the unit under construction because it was outside of office hours. The kitchen sink has leaked since day 1 and we had to bring in a certified professional plumber to get the leaking to stop after maintenance tightened a screw and called it good. Even then, the hardware was so stripped from the original install that it kept leaking anyways. The front door didn't latch unless it was locked with the deadbolt, the master bath door didn't close without shoving a towel in the door jam because a previous tenant broke the door in half and apparently the solution was to piece it back together with plaster, both bedroom windows leaked water when it rained, there were screws in every wall from previous tenants that were just painted over. Cracked light fixtures, paint splattered all over cabinet hardware, appliances and floors, closet tracks were painted over so the sliding closet doors can't even be moved without significant effort and paint chips falling everywhere. And don't forget the RAT PROBLEM! The garbage pickups maybe come every other week, so the dumpsters get stacked so high they literally overflow trash onto the ground. When we tried to renew our lease, they added a $25/month surcharge because they claimed they never received our digital lease renewal signing until over a month after the deadline to even give 60 days legal notice to vacate the property - as if we had a choice at that point. After our building catching fire and deemed uninhabitable, they offered to find something at another property they manage but we refused based on the lack of communication and clear negligence of maintenance of the property.
