This castle is awesome and so much history. Super groovy walking/hiking trails, too.

This was a great time. We enjoyed immensely seeing this castle, even though we were not able to tour the inside. The views from the grounds are spectacular. There is a path to a cliff overlook of the river with a sheer drop that is quite thrilling! We plan to visit again when we can tour the inside.

Gillette Castle is a wonderful place to visit with the family. The employees do a great job presenting the history behind the Castle's creation and everyday life. There is also a place where you can hike if you go down the path to the right of the castle.

Edit :My cousin just got married there next to the pavilion in November. He did call a number to make sure nothing else was going on, but at all state parks you can pretty much get married on the grounds, no questions asked. The inside is a different story and closed now anyway. You should have no problems at all. Also, if its low tide you could do it below the castle on the river at the ferry. A little beach forms that is very cute if you walk to the end of the green. By the ponds by the castle there is a train tunnel that is great for pictures if you guys like trains. You definitely have your options if you're pulling something off small, quick, and quite. People have their photos taken there often enough.
Yes, a few tables at the top (or a bench, wall or grass) and more at the bottom by the lot.
It is free but to enter the castle it has a temporary closure but you can do a nice walk
The tour guide will tell you before you head upstairs. Yes photography allowed inside. No touching displays.
It's not a large parking lot and it usually fills up quite early. It would be tight towing a fifth wheel.
After buying the tickets, they suggest you move to a small room where they show you a video with information who was the owner. the video speaks of 42 rooms, but when touring the castle you can only see 4 rooms
No not close up. Its a no vehicle trail.
