It was nice to have a shower, flushing toilet, running water and no squirrels getting into your stuff. WiFi was ok. The room was clean and basic. The grounds were clean and peaceful. Better accommodations than you would expect for being so remote.

It's a comfortable bed after a long day of hiking. There are amenities, I'm sure, but I didn't take advantage of them. The water was cold, and the staff had gone home by the time I discovered that, so I couldn't take a shower. It was rough since I was such a dirt bag after hiking all day. Everyone I encountered seemed to not want to be there. But, after all, it's a touch of civilization in a very remote area, and it is worth the price if for only the ability to rest up for the adventures before and after.

I am sad to see such poor reviews of the lodge and the people. This lodge is 10 miles down into the Grand Canyon. People must have very high expectations to be disappointed. The beds were comfortable, the showers were hot for the most part, the AC was cold, and the people warmed up to you. I found the whole experience to be pleasant. Not everyone there is super friendly at first but I don’t think you can expect them to be after all the disrespect they’ve probably witnessed from entitled people visiting their village. I found most of the tribe to be very kind once we proved to be respectful and caring of their people and village. Also, one review mentioned bed bugs but we did not have that problem at all. There is a cafe near the lodge that serves great breakfast. We didn’t really get to eat lunch or dinner there since we were at the falls but I found the prices to be reasonable considering the location. Had a great time! If you go, be reasonable, be respectful, and have a blast! Also, be considerate and do not bring alcohol into their reservation.

The lodge was very acceptable especially after a long day of hiking. It's nothing fancy but comfortable. Hot shower or bath plus comfortable beds. The room was clean although in disrepair overall. The smoke detectors were pulled off the ceiling, so non-existent. That's obviously a safety issue that they should address. Floor tiles we're cracked and the curtains we're off the rods. The lodge manager was rude at first but we finally got her to crack a smile. Not very helpful. There is only one restaurant in the town and it closes at 5, so be prepared. The food was fine. Overall, this is upgraded camping. No TV or blow dryer, just FYI! The cost was over 250.00 per night so you really have to hate camping.

Two months before the reservation date

I have booked for 2 people. Can I bring 2 people more? I know room has two beds. They are not picking phone to ask this question.

U need to be persistent about calling. There is a charge for each person to stay in the village. You will be on native American land and that is the charge plus the room charge.

does any one know if they have additional beds for the rooms or if we can get an air mattress?

I dont think its allowed more than 4 people per room, but for sure they dont offer additional beds. There are 2 beds in room (by the way they are amazing, soft and comfy), there was a small loveseat in our room.

What is nightly rate, can you just book 2 nites, doe it include all fees?

Its $440 per night. You can do 2 nights. Theres an additional charge of $110 per person for the permit.

I read that if you lodge here you'll have access to the reservation. Is that correct? Or do you still have to pay a permit? All I want to do is to lodge here for a night or 2 and hike to the falls and back. No camping for me.

You still pay for a permit. I stayed for 2 nights and hiked to the falls the next day. Didn't get to the last falls. Terrain was more than what my son thought his 6yr old son could do. Totally beautiful there but u pay for every little thing.the 2 night stay at the lodge plus permit.our 2 night stay was $541.50. That didn't exclude our meals or any room complimentary service. Need to book about a year in advance. You will need to call several times.

Permits are picked up at the tourist office in the village. Plenty of signs when you arrive either by hiking down or taking the helicopter.
