We feel they took good care of our fur baby for a week. We would have preferred a kennel over a crate, but we didn’t book early enough. Staff was friendly and appeared to connect well with our dog and others based on our observations. We were very disappointed the cameras were down the entire time because apparently only one employee knows how to use them and he was on vacation. When customers choose a boarding facility because we can observe our dog, it’s frustrating to not be able to do so even once for his entire stay. We had our boy bathed for pick-up and they did a nice job. Good place for an urban boarding kennel, but probably not my first choice. Our boy has never had to spend time being crated so we definitely want a kennel next time. Also hope the cameras all all operational.

Jeri Lynn's help and advice made the difference between having a dog I feared would become mean and aggressive and having a dog I thoroughly love and enjoy. I've had dogs all my 63 years of life and thought now was the time to take on training a border collie puppy. Early on she became possessive and would growl and snap when I would try to pick her up or remove something from her. Twice she injured my hand. I was deeply grieved thinking I would have to rehome this puppy I had dreamed of for two years. Then Jeri Lynn came to my home to provide personal training. She asked probing questions about Molly's behavior while constantly observing her interactions. She gave clear instructions of training steps I was to implement immediately. I did exactly as she instructed. Now six weeks later I have the wonderful puppy I had dreamed about. She's still in progress but doing great. I've purchased all four Positive Approach training levels and will enroll her in the agility class, as well. With Jeri Lynn's continual input into the training of my puppy and me, I'm confident Molly will have excellent behavior and we will enjoy our years together.

Fabulous hours. Easy parking lot. Lots of great store items... and OMG our dog LOVES it there! He starts howling as we get closer! Staff is friendly and very helpful. They know Jupiter and he is very happy to be dropped off. We also watch him on Nanny cam...it's hilarious and reassuring.

We love Positive Approach! Our pup Kulshan has been going there since he was a baby, and he starts whining with excitement as soon as we turn onto the street. During his entry test they had a trainer on hand and actually walked me back to the room to watch through a window, explaining all of the behaviors they were seeing and what they were looking for, which I really appreciated. The staff is super nice and knowledgeable, and I love having the retail section easily available so we can buy Kulshan a treat or two during pickup if we need to. I recommend Positive Approach to all of my Tacoma friends!

There are private lessons available. I would call the staff and see what options they have available to help with your individual needs. Im sure there is something available to accommodate.

What is the cost? I have a rescue beagle that needs basic and I would love to take her to children's cancer center later. She was badly abused but has come a long way. She is so sweet. Please contact me.

Hi Judy. Your beagle is fortunate to have you in their life! Although the answer to your question seems simple, it's not. A "badly abused" dog has special needs, as you obviously know. We've been training dogs for a long time at Positive Approach and we know that some dogs do well in class settings while others require private lessons or a combo of the two. What I can tell you in this message is that we are highly trained, knowledge and experienced working with all kinds of dogs whether they have emotional challenges or not. Two of our trainers have CPDT-KA credentials, literally a world-wide certification, obtained through much time and work and then final, extensive testing. Yes, we work with people whose goal is to prepare their furry kid to do service visits to help those in need of that special dog love. Please provide us with your phone number or call and speak with a trainer 253-627-4275. We look forward to helping you and your sweet beagle, Judy.

Hi Leola! We love and groom dogs of all ages. We do not require our groomers meet quotas therefore they can go more slowly and gently when dogs like yours need extra TLC. We have found over the years that we have happier customers, both 2 and 4 legged, plus our groomers are more calm as well. Our groomers are popular so call us at 253-627-4275 as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.

Our normal closing time on Sundays is 7:30pm, Julie. That said, occasionally there is an emergency which delays pick up, I.e. late plane arrival delaying picking up boarded dogs, car accident, etc. In those cases, we work with our customer to find the best way to meet everybody’s needs.
