This was one of the most disappointing hotels I've ever stayed at. I expected more from a 4 star place. The room size is small, but that's acceptable given it's location. What I had problems with were the lack of hot water in the shower, the awful awful shampoo (I've never had my hair quality degrade so much in a single wash), and the extremely lacking service. They gave us a number to text at any time if we needed anything. I requested no room cleaning one day because I was planning on sleeping in and they responded to me nearly 12 hours after my text after I had my sleep disturbed multiple times already.

Hyatt is always my go to hotel chain when traveling. New York is my #1 destination when traveling back to the east coast to visit family. I stayed here for the first time in March during my daughters spring break. Hyatt is well-know for great amenities, service offerings and this hotel did not disappoint. After reading previous reviews, I am very surprised of how negative other peoples experiences were and had to share my own. I was very pleased with the ambience once I arrived. The restaurant, hotel check in area and the room was very tidy, clean and comfortable. Upon arrival which was really late, I got to the room and it was very cold. I called down to the front desk and very quickly met Sheldon Lawrence to look at the heater. He was pleasant, explained everything he was doing and promised to get this taken care of for me quickly since it was very late or should I say, early in the morning. My daughter was exhausted from traveling all day and we just wanted to go to sleep. He had to step out to get a special tool and check something else but before you knew it he was back, did a few more things and we started to feel WARM AIR! Thank goodness. Sheldon was a delight and showed dedication to my request and family at a ridiculous hour. He truly is the definition of quality and seamless service with a smile. He was dressed professionally and came equipped for the job. I didn't care there was an issue when we arrived but how quickly it was handled and how pleasant my encounter was with Sheldon. He is the reason I will chose this location over and over again when I visit NY to visit my family. He is an asset to this location and seems to represent the type of establishment this is. I was able to enjoy the remainder of my stay with ease which made my trip memorable. I cannot wait to return! Hopefully when its warmer! Thank you Sheldon!

This is not a 4 star hotel. Honestly I'm not sure it's even a 3 star apart from the fact that there's no bugs...The rooms are small with paper thin walls. The room itself is serviceable but that's about it. The sink serves as a wall separating the bed from the toilet, the toilet is crammed into a tiny cubicle and the water pressure just about gets itself out of the showerhead. Food turns up in a paper-bag. No cutlery until you order a steak and then you get some plastic cutlery, or at least, you eventually will. My steak was served with a plastic knife and...spoon and, on my second call for something useful, by which time the food was cold, I got 4 sets of plastic cutlery. Thanks folks, Then there's housekeeping...or there should be. After 4 days of stay they will finally deign to empty your rubbish and replenish your coffee and soap / shampoo etc. Yes of course you can call for more, but should a 4 star hotel really place the onus on the customer to call to ask for their bins to be emptied or shampoo to be replenished? My advice...if you need somewhere to stay around Union square at this price point, The W is $50/night more expensive and their restaurant isn't operating at the moment but, it's not this place. Honestly the Hyatt Union Square need to take a really long hard look at what they're delivering and improve it.

Not sure where to start but we can go with the floor being dirty/dusty (would not recommend walking barefoot in the room), holes and stains in the bedding and possibly worst of all the total incompetence of the staff I dealt with. Despite submitting a verified pre-authorisation form prior to my arrival for all charges to go to my credit card (not the card that the stay was booked with) and receiving confirmation of receipt of said form, they charged all charges and an incidentals hold to the wrong card. After much issue trying to resolve this with the hotel while on my vacation and confirming upon check out that they would not charge the wrong card again, they still charged the wrong card and in both instances had absolutely no explanation for what went wrong not once but twice. Absolutely unacceptable way for a very well-known hotel brand to operate! Union Square is a great location but choose another hotel in the area.
