The hotel was clean and the front desk staff was pleasant. The location is nice with local restaurants and shopping within a few minutes drive. The pool and pool deck were well maintained and clean. The view is very nice with the Sight & Sound theatre behind and the pond and animals in front. The rooms are basic with very very small bathrooms. To close the bathroom door you practically need to stand in the tub or wedge yourself between the toilet and tub. Our ac unit was extremely loud, but it worked. The included breakfast is buffet style and the focus of the food is quantity not quality.

Food for lunch was mostly good, some food had weird seasoning like the cheesy potatoes and the filling. Baked goods were excellent. Glad I had a free birthday meal because I'm not sure it was worth $20.99 without drinks. Servers were excellent and on top of refills and taking plates. Overall it was nice.

I consider myself a pretty good home cook. In fact I love teaching others how to cook. This was my favorite place to eat over the weekend trip that I took with a bunch of friends. First, I can actually tell a difference when chicken is fresh and the fried chicken there was exceptional! Everything I had taken on my plate was very good. We were at another smorgasbord previously the day before, and I thought the only thing that was outstanding was they offered grilled steaks. I also like the shopping experience better than the previous place We had been. Check out the clothes believe it or not, very reasonably priced! They had a nice variety of things to offer. I would be remiss not to talk about the service. As a long time server from years ago, I know what it takes to be efficient and pleasant at the same time. The guys and gals pulled it off beautifully! I thought it was very smart that when they greeted us as a group, they came to the table with glasses filled with choices of sweet tea, regular tea and lemonade and water and such. Boom. Now we can go to the buffet without waiting. Pork and sauerkraut, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, roast beef, all tasted homemade. A few people at our table actually ordered a hamburger and raved about it saying... Now that's what a hamburger should taste like! They take fresh beef and put the ball of meat on the grill and press it down, nothing like a fast food place would. Okay I'm glad I got to review this and I hope when we go back to sight and sound next year .. our group will stop there again! Give it a try... "Cooking with Aunt Shirley" from Pittsburgh. π

My husband, 10 year old and I stayed here for a couple of days for Spring Break. We absolutely loved it here. They rooms are quaint and clean. The customer service was wonderful. The pond and little barn in the back were an added bonus too. They even sell feed at the front desk for a nominal fee so your kids can feed the animals. Lastly, the restaurant was wonderful! I'm so glad we chose to stay here instead of the available chain hotels. I hope to come back again soon! Note: The Farmhouse and Carriage House are close to the main road on the property. In our family we are moderate to heavy sleepers so the road noise did not bother us for one minute. However, if you're a light sleeper, you may want to consider the main inn because it's towards the back of the property and away from the street.
