Great place to go hiking. Go see the Borden Cabin and walk through it to the back and check out the waterfall it's a really nice site to see and a nice walk in the woods as well.

Lived near this SP for 3 years & never explored. Finally took the time to begin last week & I'm so glad I did!! Can't wait to get back & discover more trails!!!

Beautiful trails that are a pretty easy hike! We went up to the waterfall and thereβs also a small house where people can eat lunch/picnic. Thereβs a few bridges on the hike and some nice spots to stop by the creek. Also passed by a cute little peach stand on the way there, but forgot the name of it!

On 4/28/2021, my future Husband proposed to me on a rock, in the middle of the waterfall which, is the epicenter of a large picturesque window, set in the main room of Mr. Bordner's hand-hewn log Cabin. I often reminisce of my own breathtaking moment that day my beloved, Stephen, surprised me by his humbled romanticism. π₯° While bikes, horses & leashed fur babies are welcome, it's a mild to moderate hike along the trail up the to the cabin. Once there, you'll certainly appreciate the history (framed upon the walls inside) of the Cabin, as the soothing sounds of the water falls just a few feet away. A cabin setting with peacefull views, guaranteed to take your breath away, too!! Safe trails to all! ππππ

Yep! It has a number of charcoal grills
Yes. Black walnuts, locusts, and some maples are showing color.
Twin pines is a very nice camping place on 72. Tent, rv & cabins. Cross 72 & you are in swatara park. LickDale campground is also nice .
I really do not know i was passing through
Yes there is hunting, but you're perfectly safe to go trail riding!
There are porta- potties in p/lot, and at on of the Park Ranger Stations. Where the bike trails begin.
If you park at Sand Siding Road it's about 3 miles round trip
As always you must download the B4UFLY first to see if you are able to fly there. You may also need FAA clearance with the control tower in a lot of areas. With this being so close to the the gap it may be restricted airspace. Air maps is another great flight tool.
I don't feel there's any guarantee that you won't run into any hunters this time of year. I would suggest wearing florescent orange if walking now.
Border's cabin is on sand siding trail. A beautiful place to visit.
It is the same trail, but horses to the left.
Yes.
While there is no camping allowed in the park, the Appalachian trail cuts through Swatara State Park, State Game Lands 80, and a State Game lands to the north, just up Gold Mind Road. There's an old rail trail along a creek called Evening Branch that leads to a Reservoir to the East and an abandoned town to the West. At this town, called Rausch Gap, there's an intersection with the Appalachian trail. There is single night camping allowed there as long as you're a hiker. If you want to go Primitive camping, I recommend a PA state Forest run by the PA DCNR.
All the roads that look like they are blocked off are closed to traffic. The only original road that's open is an old road called Old State Road that leads to the parking lot by the bridge where it meets the Appalachian trail. This is a park for hiking and biking. The roads are NOT for driving.
Great! Beginner to intermediate rolling trails, well labeled, total of 9 mile loop in all
The fossil pit is on "Bear Hole Trail" about a mile from "Swopes Valley trail head" parking lot. On the left .
There is designated Horse Trailer parking on State Park road and Sand Siding road. I'd recommend those areas over Bear Hole Trailhead.
Not at the swatara rim trail but I did see some where there's a ranger station
I took a trail to the cabin. Didn't see any signs for disc golf.
Heavy rains turned me back from visiting. I regret that I cannot answer.
Thank you very much. Either way getting out for a day up there will be nice I'm sure
