For context I am an 18 year old British solo female traveller who stayed for 20 days ! my first Hostel after only staying in hotels previously. I stayed in a 6 bed for 4 days and 4 bed for 16 days. pros -super clean bathrooms/ showers (that have body/hair wash) close to the rooms -cafe was goooood and so much cheaper than literally anywhere else. super good coffee and sandwiches/ pastries etc and open until late most nights -lots of social spaces (common rooms, theatre etc.) and a big outside area round the back im not sure many people knew about -bigg kitchen with multiple cookers and shared fridges and free food after people left. good vibes -delis opposite and right by the 1 subway which gets u straight into central very quickly -24 hour reception v useful -beds were comfortable and had a light/ multiple charging sockets -area felt pretty safe/ like 5-10 mins walk from Central Park/ the walk from the subway is only a minute at night (although I obviously would Not recommend this alone it’s better than a longer walk) cons -only some rooms have privacy curtains (my 4 bed did but 6 didn’t) -not particularly social but everyone I interacted with was chill and there was people from literally everywhere -room temperature at night was slightly random so ask for an extra blanket -queue for check in and I had to change rooms because I booked a 6 bed but they didn’t have the same bed for the whole time, so I got upgraded to a 4 four days in. not really a con because yay but could’ve been annoying if I had to downgrade

My experience was not good. The room was very small and had no ventilation. There was a machine on that "circulated the air" but it was impossible to breathe and it was very hot. The bed that I got was a disaster, the mattress was all broken with worn springs that hurt my back, I had to ask for a change of bed... the bathrooms were super far from the room and also the hair dryers weren't working in any of them. A huge building with only one elevator, which took forever! The common areas are very nice but they are not used, there is no planned activity in the hostel so they do not invite their guests to meet. It leaves much to be desired. What I am going to highlight is the friendliness of the cafeteria staff and the variety of food and accessibility in prices that they have. Also that there are lockers to store suitcases (although paid, but very good because you can keep them for a week or more)

Bring a lock for your locker. Quiet hours at night, but the inside doors still open and street noise happens. One block from subway. Fabulous walking tour included at random. Food available for purchase approx 0600-noon. Great choices. Full Kitchen available to use if you bring food and clean up after self. Social atmosphere very positive.

I stayed for 2 days and really enjoyed it. Nice and clean environment, neat and clean rooms. The bathroom is also tidy and clean with hot and cold water. If I come back to NY I will stay here again.

Yes, it would. Each room has a locker for your stuff but as an added precaution bring a lock for big luggage and another for the locker
I did it but they have to fix it there by making separate reservations
Yes you’re good. I’m 20 and just did a solo trip to New York for spring break. I had no problems with checking in and staying.
There are lockers in the rooms that are big enough to put a whole suitcase sometimes. I was able to comfortably put my backpack in there with no problem. But you need to bring your own lock and key for that one to be able to lock it.
Yes, there’s always someone in the front desk. As I remember, i checked in around 2 am
You should include the night and notify there! Can be done
No, I don't need a credit card. All you need is money to pay when you get there and a valid ID. If you book in advance online you will need a credit card/account for a small fee to book in advance, 10%.

They do provide sheets and towels. You can bring your own if you like.
Hi, there are shuttles to Manhattan, but this is not necessarily the cheapest and most convenient option. Consider using public transport, Uber, Lyft, a normal cab or public transport as well. The last one will probably be the cheapest but the longest, the other ones vary.
Stay calm. The neighborhood is safe and is very close to the metro.
If you can
Download the lyft or supershuttle app
Youll be fine. I never had to.wait for a shower and it was fully booked. I guess youd have to time it really badly for it to.be a problem eg happen show right at the.same.time as a school group
Yes. And they wash it every 2 days. Just leave it in sight in your bed and when you return you will have a clean one !!! 🤗🤗🤗 They did not give me sandals, maybe it's because of the type of room you book.
Yes there is a $21.00 Van pick up service from La Guardia and JFK to HI New York. I used it, It worked well. It took me right in front of the Youth Hostel.
The check-in is at 11 am, for earlier cherckin, it’s possible if you room is already ready, but the best way is to contact to have the exact information about the day you will arrive. But there’s many waiting area where you can wait there if needed
No! The hostel is strictly for accommodation purposes
You should call the hostel for specifics, I think that there are a few spots on site. There were a couple of people who parked right next to the building (not me), but I know there are options.
Not true!!! Don't put the shower all the way to the left. Stop right before the end of the red on the hot side. I thought the same thing. There really is hot water!!!
Yes its possible to pay cash or card at the hostel. I did that.
It's premade sandwiches and pastries
It's safe
Yes, also AMEX
I don't believe so either. With it's placement, you can get lucky with a spot along the streets but you'd need to check the resident permit rules. Best course of action is to rely on the subway and park your car on the outskirts of the city like at White Plains for example.
I went as a female solo traveller, stayed at a 6 person female dorm, and everything went great. Even made a couple of friends.
Yes you can if you have a reservation they store it behind the front desk and they give you a luggage tag, you pick it up when you check in. When you check out they have lockers in the basement that's $5/Cash Only for luggage store for up to 24hrs hope this helps
Had a few people come into the room I was in late at night during my stay. Can’t say it really bothered me considering it’s a hostel after all- you get what you pay for! Might have to unpack in the dark with your phone’s flashlight though, people would likely get annoyed if you turn the room lights on.
Well, to get out of JFK, I consider you take the bus that transfers to Manhattan, then take the updown subway and stay at stop 103 and walk a street and arrive at the hostel
The day is up to two weeks and you don't have to be International Traveler you just can't be a resident of New York City
I was calling from Boston & same problems. Just ringing & ringing. Finally got someone, made a reservation & stayed. Weird thing is...During my stay there was ALWAYS someone(s) at the desk🤔
I don't think they charge but am not sure.
I don't remember seeing cameras. The entrance/exit is key controlled. Not the best hostel I've stayed in. It seems to have become a harbor for a LOT of ppl who are not citizens and are staying for free while we are paying. I guess someone has to pay, right? Not the best ran hostel either, no one ever answers the phone. I suggest what I am going to do, and that is to stay at a cleaner and better ran establishment my next trip to NY. This place is ran down and I'm not sure they care.
They answer everything on the web. Send your query they will answer you. They are always very attentive. Many speak Spanish.
Opens at 8 or so, closes at 10pm
This is not a travel agency. Ask the hostel. Here is not quotes

3 PM is the check in time. They have luggage storage if you need it.
You do not know why the reservation is made by bed and in general they are four, six or eight.
I think not, that you can change before arriving. Maybe you can consult with the hotel by email
Of course
And
I do not think I will save for myself and two friends and they paid in cash.
No
You need a hotel for 3 hours
They receive packages and it is safe
Yes, equipped the building.
Premium is secluded. 4 have more.
Agree with lissa
Hello, tell you that if you can pay in cash and in my case if the price of the reservation is respected. There are no charges to the card.
It can not. You must be a guest. There is a security door past the entrance hall.
The hostel is great! I highly recommend it, the best thing is to stay in a mixed room. Enjoy!
The website is very complete, I found the info on Booking.com and on despegar.com, but you can send an email and check
In each room there is a locker to store your belongings and you can put a lock, plus there are lockers for rent.
Yep! They've even arranged a gay pub crawl tour when I was staying there!
Rude
Check in: 4 p.m. There are lockers.
In July, I had a similar arrival situation and had a horrible experience with Super Shuttle. So I recommend NOT using SS
Yes it prioritises previous floirs selected so there is a wait time for it however.. unless your in a rush this 15mins as its old.. thter are steps down the the kitchen we can use that are quicker.. from ground to basement tv room . the cafe is in ground with a toilet also and comfy area and the bar then the pool table and other games and out door area ... With the laundry above first .. yet towels and free flip flops for the showers and there are plenty of toilet's on each floor. Staff are friendly and helpful fron reception, cleaning to cafe and there are tours and shuttles you can do but pay for that are optional.. i will go back. It was clean ans welcoming 😁👍
No adapter is not needed, the plugs are normal. Obviously for the Europeans who are around here they will need an adapter
I don't know where you can find a fitness room but central park is just 5 minutes by walk from the hostel.
If you're a member you'll save 3$ per day.
The space is wide, there is room for a backpack and more things, and if you have to bring a padlock.
They are a few options. You can choose a mixed room for 4, 6, 8 people.
Some official ID. Be it your passport, state ID or other official document with photo
You can book at the reception. However they might not have rooms available, as it located in midtown. I would suggest you to book before you land there. That's a sure way to get a room of your choice. I suppose 20 years should be able to get a reservation as its targeted for students.
Breakfast is rich, I did not find it so simple, cereals, fruit, tea, coffee, chocolate milk, bagel And it goes from 7 to 11 am
Yes!
None
Shared bathrooms mean others can use too, but the baths are big and you have privacy.
Question in English: Hello, do you have a parking lot? Perhaps they will respond faster.
I only knew shared rooms
Hi. They do not make transfers, you must reserve a van to take you.
Hello Elisabete, are you from Sao Paulo? I'm from Curitiba, I recomend you download the MTA app...
Hi asked Google easy to get you
Yes. Mail and telephone. Look for it on the internet and if you can not find it, go to a hostel search engine, enter the name and it is one of the first ones on the list. There all the data comes.
Yes, at the exit of the airport there is Shuttle Bus Office.
They are so kind and I think if you ask them again, they're going to have a resolution for you.
I think in hi USA hostel there is couple of twin bed or room for couples only ...depends on the availability...but even if u take only women room with 6 beds, that's shall work same...except privacy.
I need them to stop this Jesus Alonso Ramirez Gomez who already owes a lot of pension, he fled to the virgin of Sarapique for not paying a pension
Yest there is a Van seevice from in front of the Youth hostel to La Guardia. It costs $21. I used the service from La Guardia and can recommend it.
Yes. No problem. Make your reservation on their website and specify your preferences. Payment by cb possible. Friendly welcome and top facilities.
I think you can, email the hostel in English or Spanish.
From terminal 1 at the airport you take the train to jamaica station. There you change to the blue line to penn station. Then you take the red line train from penn station, getting off at 103 st. You walk one block and go.
Yes, it is open 24 hours, there will always be a receptionist and you will have an ID card issued at check-in.
They accept cash and card.
