I would highly recommend visiting and make sure you give yourself time to explore the trains.

It’s a fascinating museum. The kids loved it and there was plenty to see. To me the admission is high. And the “train ride” didn’t meet our expectations. The train literally went back and forth once on the track. I would not pay extra for that. We much preferred the little zoo train ride.

Two hour deal for the kids. Nice place

Our 2 yo son LOVED it here. Spent a good 2-3 hrs. Will have to visit again soon or even look into an annual pass!

There are two train rides. One is a restored train that goes a short distance forwards and backwards. It rides along "real" train tracks and is a "real" train. You ride in the caboose and can walk around while the train is not moving. The other train is (I believe) a real restored train, but it is a different type from the first one. It is about the same size as a caterpillar fair ride, but the train conductor rides in the train instead of standing at a podium. (There are many other differences between this train and a fair ride.) The train goes along an oval-ish track with cute historic-style signs along it.
I will like to sit on the fence but please call for proper clarification. That was my reply based on calling
Yes! You can buy a ticket onsite.
So, they have this annual family membership through which you can come as many times as you want and ride trains again and again . I recently went at a late time because we had just discovered it.. please buy membership. Itll help them out during these trying covid times where they cannot offer access to all buses, trains etc. There are enough open for the kids and adults to enjoy...you will not be disappointed. Go. Please
You're probably thinking of the "dome car" - this car has a lounge on the bottom floor, with lots of red, purple, and blue, and has stairs up to an observation dome with several seats with tables. It's still at the Museum, currently in the RTE Building behind Building 2 to the left of the buses as you walk back.
Yes, it is currently open. We did the train ride last Saturday and they will run it weather permitting (its very short, from the entrance back to their shed and back)
Routine pricing, see https://www.train-museum.org/plan-your-visit/ for the admission and train ride pricing. We'll be open on Sunday as well as Saturday.
They have a couple of different train rides that are short in duration, but nothing different for this time of year.
10 dollars per adult 8 for seniors age 2 to 12 7 dollars
Sorry, it is free for veterans. I think the tickets were $10 for adults. My dad and I went, but we are both vets.
No they have steps you have to go up to get on train ride
Try on their website, but I've only ever gone up to the booth and bought tickets on the location. It's usually not that busy that the place being at capacity is a problem.
The museum is open Thursday – Saturday throughout the year. Hours: 10:00am-5:00pm

Last I looked it was still being worked on. However there is a lot of model trains on display in glass cases.
There are two train rides now, the little one on a small track and the real train where you ride in a Cabose. The typically run on 15 past the hour and half oast the hour.
