Pretty sad spend tax payer money to finally fix the roads just to have the earthcookies in charge shut the gates and not allow people to drive up and hunt, nor allow horseback or side by sides that are now legally allowed on public roads. Gonna loose ALOT of money from hunters and fisherman and everything else just because you all act like you own the land when it's public state land. Pathetic

In all honesty, DNR is poorly funded, poorly managed, undermanned and a Joke. There are hardly any deer in Shannondale, Wardensville, Sleepy Creek, Nathaniel ect... for deer stick to nearby ag and farms. There are no food sources to lure deer back to DNR WMA. I constantly fine abandoned Tree Stands, Tree Cameras, red neck beer cans. trash and the only wildlife are squirrels and woodpeckers. Great for exercise, that's all.

Beautiful and secluded. Have been camping and canoeing a few times over the last few years. The road in is a little rough for cars, but better than it used to be. Not many people when we were there. Solo camped too. It attracts quite the different crowd. I have seen some city slickers get scared off unnecessarily.Hiked a few very overgrown trails. Saw a rattlesnake on two trips - crossing the road and in a woodpile. Quite a few ticks in the brush and a couple somehow got in the truck with the window down. The lake is beautiful but the lilly pads make it hard to paddle. Jumping in from a boat for a swim is your best bet but there are stumps everywhere. The people in my group were afraid to get in except me. Watch out for the big hornet and wasp nests on the shoreline in the summer. I never caught any decent sized fish and never hunted there, but some locals said it gets overrun with PA hunters during deer season.

Is fishing allowed there

There is a dock at the lake that is accessible. Most of the area is natural ground and forest.
$5 a night. There is a box right when you get to the bottom of the mountain going towards the lake that you can pay.
Yeah but you supposed to have a permit to mushroom hunt in that area
Stop at the park office and someone there would be able to answer all of your questions about what you can and can't do wile in the park
To the best of my knowledge leashed dogs are allowed in the park and at the campgrounds. I do believe that the leash can not be more then 6 ft long. They also ask that you "scoop the poop" and clean up after your furry companion. I've been camping there several times and usually bring my fur baby.
It is usually not all that busy and the have several camping spots and they are not even close to as crowded as most camping sites
Yes for shotguns only
Yes! Lots of small game, deer, and turkey. There are bear, though I've never seen any.
No locked entry. Lots of trees. If you're around or on the lake, that might be a nice spot to star gaze. It is definitely dark enough!
That's a tough question to answer. There are so many variables to hunting. I would give it a try, my opinion could be very different from you or someone else. The last time I hunted there I did see deer. Wishing you the best from one hunter to another. Good luck!
Knock yourself out
Agreed with the first reply, loony hunters shooting at anything that moves starting in the fall and depending on the loon, not uncommon for "practice" hunting to start in the late summer
I only fish there. Sorry can't be of help. But you can call the DNR and they can help.
Both are ok. Slug only with shot gun.
