I've been to several ranges in Virginia where I feel like the person next to me is not qualified operate a firearm nor own one. I've seen seem really stupid things, and I don't always trust the air quality on indoor ranges. Colonial is a great range, but it's expensive, and someone is always watching you, and the distance is limited. Other ranges will limit the types of calibers you can bring. I feel safe at Black Creek, as everyone has gone through the same safety briefing, and everyone watches out and hold everyone to the same standard. I've made some friends at BlackCreek over the years. The outfoor range features a 15, 25, 50, and 100 yard range along with a special use range for matches or skeet shooting. Presently, the membership fee is $300, which may be high for some. However, given the amount of ranges available, the overall friendly nature of the staff and members, the safety of the range, and the frequency I go shooting - it's absolutely worth every penny for me.

This place is the best. Hands down you cannot beat the price. You can stay as long as you want, shoot your own ammo, everyone treats you like family from the minute you get there until you leave. Safety is their #1 priority with having a good time following right behind this. Other shooters are also very willing to help others out. No elitist attitudes that I've encountered. You get bad seeds everywhere,I just haven't encountered them. Thank you guys

It is still operating. The number was disconnected due to massive scammers and such, and Mr. Young's family is now revitalizing the operation. best bet is to stop by and have a conversation. Membership runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31 with no proration, and is completely worth it. More than a range, it's a community.
Call the office at 804-781-1945 for details. Thanks.
You may bring 2 guests but are responsible for supervising their actions. Guest fees are $20 each person per day. You must be a member in order to bring others.
Call our office at 804-781-19455 for an answer. Parents are responsible for their Childrens safety and actions.
Presently, a membership is going for $300. It used to br less, but as with everything - it has gone up in cost. Still way cheaper than alternatives*IF* you shoot regularly.
You must attend a safety course and an NRA membership before an application. This is for their insurance, and for your benefit to ensure YOU and the guy next to you hold each other's safety in check. Membership is now around $300 a year, and is absolutely worth it if you are an avid shooter. You must go in person. There is no online application, not do they accept credit cards.
Yes - his family is running the day to day operation
Four range alleys (pistol range 7 to 15 yards, 25 yard range, 50 yards and 100 yards) and an open field with very nice trap setup
Old enough to legally purchase a firearm. Stop by the office and speak with them; super folks. Need to be an NRA member to join this club.
NRA membership required. As Robbie noted, memberships run for the calendar year with no prorating, so plan accordingly.
As Mr Kay C used to say, shoot what'cha brung except tracers.

Membership runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31 with no proration, and is completely worth it. It is still operating. Mr. Young's family is now revitalizing the operation; last year the weekday-only membership was $150 and the 7-day membership was $175. I'd pay twice that... More than a range, it's a community.
Stop by the office and ask the staff there

About 2 hours; allow 2.5 if you plan to sign up and join afterwards. Suggest arriving 9:50AM and planning to be able to depart by 12:30PM.
Membership is done on a yearly basis. Meaning if you buy in February your membership expires December 31st, not February of the following year. Therefore it is recommended to join in January of the new year. You can bring your own guns/ammo with the only restriction being no tracers or incendiary rounds, and fully automatic weapons are allowed but during certain hours during the work week. Also don't bring any guns with illegal modifications. Also you are only allowed to use paper targets on the range. To become a member you have to pay your dues then complete a range safety class with the owner of the range. Usually takes a few hours. All in all, its worth it. They have a 15, 25, 50, 100, skeet shooting range, and black powder range. You can also bring up to 2 guests with you for $5 each, and be able to shoot. Hope this helps!
