Lovely old home with out-buildings open to the public. It has been the same family since before the American revolution. Still operates a farm growing pecan, wheat, soybeans and cotton.

Do not waste your money. Go to Berkeley plantation instead.

I went 3 weeks ago. They are still researching and I think they are digitalizing records. I would call.
You have to go up steps to get into the house, but the tour is on one level. As I remember there were gravel paths to the buildings, land pretty flat. Enjoy, it's a beautiful piece of history, I believe the oldest plantation in the US still owned by the same family.
My name is Raymond Carter, and my ancestral research also leads me to Charles City County. Records reveal the Benford/Carter (Days/Shirley Plantations). They were migrated to Ohio in 1828.
Leashed Pets are allowed in the visitor parking lot area. Service animals are allowed beyond the visitor parking lot.
It is quite possibly they may have a copy on file at Shirley.
I didnt ask .. Its a private home.. Closes at 5 or so...
Slaves...how they built the rest of Amerikkka
I don't understand why you just come here and say no lol
I would ask the information desk in front
I believe they were around 20 something, u get a discount with TripleAAA
Theres no advance notice for the tour, and I cant remember the exact price but it couldnt be more than $20 for two seniors, its a very lovely place to visit.
You can wander the grounds as long as you like, the tour of the main house was less than an hour.
No lunch, but it is too beautiful to pass up. You get to see a well preserved working plantation with original brick outbuildings along a beautiful river. Descendants of the original family still live on the second floor of this home.
Yes you can drive there and cost 1250 and the person that gives a tour is wonderful
