Relatively well trafficked, lots of people seem to use this as a trail-head, and with good reason! It's a nice scenic spot

Great place to put in a paddle board or canoe. Also great place to access the tow path and view the Potomac River.

Been going here for over 50 years. Some places don't change.

Biked the c&o, locks are cool but parts of the c&o bike path are very very rough, you will really hurt your butt, and a lot of people without gravel tires had flats, broke peddles, neck tube failure, etc.... The Great Alaghanie Passage was much better.

Can you camp here? I've seen the fire rings and grills but I know it's not one of the designated C&O hiker/biker sites.

Most of the locks can be stayed at. You need to call though to see if its available as they only allow one group to camp at a lock house at a time. However if you just want to camp along the trail there are a few spots on the trail within a mile or two of this this lock that could be available, as hiker / biker spots are first come first serve.
