Beautiful library! I love this Library it has a rich history. Almost every book I can think of they have. I love the staff they are so sweet and willing to help with anything I need or want! I also volunteer there and anytime I need help they are willing to help me with my issues! I also would like to say the summer reading program is wonderful and would love to see more of y'all there!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Very rude library staff, my children were playing in the specific kid area which is closed off to the actual library so they were not disturbing anyone at all. The head librarian after side eyeing us the entire time we were there decides to walk in and tell me I need to control my children better and to detain them. I found that very rude and insensitive, my children are not animals to be detained. I would not recommend anyone to take children into this library or kids area unless your children sit still and do absolutely nothing at all ! I wondered why the KID area is always empty and it’s probably because of all the ugliness going on towards children. Why make a space for kids if they cannot be KIDS in it?? Ridiculous! And I will be making a complaint !

Nancy Carol Roberts passed away in a car accident in November of 1971. Her family made a memorial donation in her honor to the Brenham Public Library shortly after her death the library was renamed in her memory. Nancy loved people, books and searching for information so her family felt that the public library captured her interests and character. Her painted portrait hangs in the lobby of the library and we encourage you to stop by some time and see it.
Nancy had two older brothers Gary and Donnie Roberts.
We place use books for people to take free of charge in our lobby year-round. The Fortnightly Club has a book house located at 906 N. Park St. (Just down from the library) and they are open from 10am to 12pm on the First Wednesday of every month to sell used books. They have a huge annual book sale at the Fairgrounds the last week of February. The proceeds of all book sales go to support the Library.
On the first Friday of every month we are closed to the public for a staff work day. This gives us the opportunity to have staff trainings/meetings, update computers & other technology, and complete maintenance projects we are not able to complete when the library is in use since we are open 6 days per week.
Yes we do! You can reserve our conference room B, which has built in web conferencing capabilities, or you can check out a laptop with a webcam to use in one of our study rooms. Just give us a call if you have any questions.
Yes, we actually have a room dedicated to genealogy research and more information can be found about the collection and additional resources for online research you can visit https://cityofbrenham.online/xdWy
There are four (4) stages of overdue fees/fines. Stage 1: Two (2) days overdue generates an automated call, email or text to the patron; according to their choice of contact method. The fine is a per-day/per item charge with a one day grace period automatically extended on the first day. Stage 2: Fourteen (14) days overdue generates another automated call, email or text to the patron; according to their choice of contact method. The fine continues on a per-day/per-item charge until the maximum amount of a fine is reached. Library card privileges are suspended when a fine reaches the maximum amount and the materials are classified as lost. Stage 3: Twenty-eight (28) days overdue, the Library Staff sends a postcard reminder. The fine continues on a per-day/per-item charge until the maximum amount of a fine is reached. Library card privileges are suspended when a fine reaches the maximum amount. Stage 4: Sixty (60) days overdue, the patron may be referred to an outside collection agency.
