These apartments are far from serenity.

Maintenance men do absolutely nothing and pick and choose which apartment they will do repairs. Nosey neighbors who want to sabotage youas well

If I could give this place a 0, I would. At first, it was great. Lovely interior, the gates were always working, and the amount of drug use and domestic violence was nonexistent, but once the management changed, so did the environment. It's almost like Lisa let's anyone in here, the new maintenance man oversteps so many boundaries, and both of them rather stay in apartment drama rather than help this community of women grow. Back when I was there, Ms. Pam and Ms. Marsha were in charge. They made sure this place was a safe-haven, a second chance for women who'd been through hell and back, but these days Serenity Place is ANYTHING BUT serene. I was visiting a friend when a woman got shot in the second breezeway in broad daylight. There were kids outside and everything. A few friends of mine even tried to start a neighborhood watch, but for whatever reason, that was shut down. I hear another young lady tried to start up a program for the kids there, even went as far as getting donations from churches to help out, along with her own money and that was shut down as well. Don't even get me started on how Lisa will try and overcharge you, then direct you to housing as if they didn't pay their part. Come to find out, after looking over my friend's apartment ledger, she was being charged about 130.00 more than what DHA wanted her to pay, and she was told there would be no refund. It's crazy that they take from people who already have little to nothing. I think to whip the place back into shape, Ms. Pam would need to be back in charge and Lisa needs to get the boot. I was one of the first women to move in and one of the first to head on out, but it really hurts me that women I referred to what was supposed to be a very healthy environment and fresh start like what I got, are going through pure hell because of poor management. From what I've wittnessed and the things I hear that go down in these apartments, this is a last resort. I suggest looking into Under One Roof. A few friends of mine had much better results, and case workers that really care.
