The staff here are polite, helpful and friendly. Judge John Olson in particular is very amiable and easy-going. He made everyone feel comfortable and less nervous in the courtroom.

Got a ticket from Kirkland PD while I had a valid parking permit. Court clerk said mail a copy to court and the ticket would be cleared. Now I've received a late notice and the fine has increased. They did not take care of it. I don't think they care if people give the local businesses any business. I will not be going into downtown Kirkland until this illegal fine has been removed.

Judge says he generally goes with whatever the cops says happened. Tells everyone they can pay $200 + their ticket, wait 12 months and not get anything on their driving record. So if you can't pay the extra $200 "bribe" to get your ticket deferred, you'll be stuck with higher insurance costs. The police and judges are just partners out to steal from the poor while pocketing large taxpayer funded salaries. The base pay for a new officer with no education is 5,550 a month + full benefits, paid schooling, increased pay after schooling, large bonuses for a range of different certs, vacations, holidays and an amazing retirement program.

Kirkland Municipal Court is the most incompetent court in the whole nation. And the worst, and by that the meanest police department. I've had my share of traffic infractions in the past and had to deal with various court in the state by mitigating or contesting tickets. Never have I wasted so much time, had so much grief, lost so much money in any court. The court commissioner is one greedy, unethical, incompetent and from my interactions with him a really mean person. Does not help anybody, nor does he give any breaks or respond in a positive way. No compassion toward a poor person who has a tough time and struggles in life. Why should he? He's got a good job, inside, probably close to home and lives on the taxpayers money. And when a taxpayer needs some understanding and support to resolve an unpaid ticket issue what does he do? Well, I won't go into details. I addressed other court commissioners in the past requesting late payment fee waivers, reduction in the original amount or a ticket pulled from collections and they were of at least some help. No one has turned me down. But Mr. Olson of Kirkland court is not that humane. Usually municipal courts in Snohomish county are more relaxed with very nice people attending to the public. King county has always been a hostile territory. In Kirkland court everybody is unkind, somewhat unpleasant and worst trying to show you that they do everything by the book. Literally. You pay them in full, as much as they say, when they say, no breaks or else. The penalties are outrages, in some instances twice the norm specified by RCW. Probably because somebody's got to cover the costs of building their new court house. And if you have a ticket sent to collections good luck with that. You'll pay through your nose cause the court doesn't care if you aren't financially apt to pay the ticket. Alliance One - their twin evil brothers will rape anyone who's trapped in their claws. It's a twisted bureaucratic apparatus. My advice to everybody reading this: If you have a ticket in Kirkland court don't let these lame, greedy, money-thirsty bureaucrats take your money. Hire a good lawyer and fight your ticket. You are better off this way. Much better. Don't contribute your hard-earned money to the building of the new courthouse. Let them pay for it from their own salaries. Go through to the Superior Court if the court doesn't give you a break. Any money spent in legal fees and lawyer is worth the effort and you'll come out clean. Show them the public is not stupid. Fight your case. This is not a court you could work out deals with. Remember, they will not help you. And don't bother writing to the court commissioner if you have a complaint or feel the court mistreated you. This man needs to find a job doing hard physical work with his back and see how hard the money is earned and may be then he will show compassion to those who seek his assistance. He does not deserve respect and certainly does not deserve to be addressed " your honor". THERE IS NO HONOR IN HIM. Money is what dictates everything. To Mr. Olson the words honor, justice and humanity are just some made-up words. I would not trust this court with anything. Find legal representation and follow to the end. By the way this (Kirkland) court is presumably the only court in WA state that will report you to the credit bureaus if you don't pay your ticket. That's why you have no other options but challenge it. Believe me paying a lawyer to defend you is money wisely spent. You'll be in a far better position and thank me for that.

Yes I'd call them in advance to see when there is an available appointment window.
You need to go there, sometimes they can find out and tell you over the phone, but if you have a warrant you need to pay a fee so you don't get arrested
I do not believe so
