I have made several posts about this in miscellaneous community groups and I am silenced every time. This organization does not want anything negative said about them. Do not volunteer or work for CCARE. They have a habit of bullying employees and volunteers into quitting or firing for no reason or unfair reasons. It came to my knowledge that the board has also been slandering past employees to potential employers. This is a toxic work environment, and though it is a good cause for the animals, CCARE has shown time and time again that it is not good for people.

Posted on internet they are open M, W, F until 6:30 pm. I had 3 cases of Hills Science Diet to donate. Was there at 4:20 pm on a Monday. There was a note on door "back at 6." I live over 30 miles away so returning wasn't really a convenient option. Took it home and found another place to donate. If you're only open 3 days a week someone should be there on those days. Very disappointed!!

Questions & Answers

Can you surrender a pregnant cat here. If so is there a fee and how much?

Maria Lynch | Nov 4, 2018
Megan Clemons | Nov 4, 2018

At CCARE we are not capable of taking cats. There are other rescues in the Manhattan area that may be able to help but CCARE cannot. It is in our long range plans, but we are still 3-5 years out. Thanks for the question!

It depends on the dog but all prices should be posted on the website.

If you are a Clay County resident, the surrender fee will be between $50 and $75. This depends on what medical is necessary for the animal at the time of intake. For out-of county surrenders, it is a flat $75. Please call ahead to make an appointment for a surrender as we are currently open by appointment only!
