I have been hospitalized in Oakwood for the past 6 weeks. Like most places, it has its pros and it's cons. The cons are extreme...long wait in the ER, it feels like you're left to rot in a bed/chair in a hallway waiting for a room. While you are waiting, make sure you hold on tight to everything that you brought in otherwise you'll end up losing something and not getting it back like my eyeglasses. Some of the nursing staff was the only thing that made my 6 weeks somewhat tolerable... Warren, Brenden, Sierra, & Renee on the 5th floor were all outstanding and phenomenal. I will be forever indebted to their compassion and commitment that they have to towards their job. My direct doctors seemed genuinely concerned for my well-being. Besides the nightmare that I had in the emergency room waiting for a bed, overall it wasn't too bad of a stay. I'm giving it 3 out of 5 stars knocking off points for the emergency room, some of the rude staff I encountered, and the quality of food from room service. Stay away from the turkey and the chicken,it's extremely dry.

Took us 4 hours to get dexamethasone for our son who had croup. No one told us what was going on. They screwed up our medication multiple times, after 3 hours finally came out with discharge papers but never any medication! After another hour and almost getting kicked out, we finally had a nurse who took care of us. The couple after us who’d been there longer didn’t fare as well, and they got kicked out after waiting themselves for over 4 hours for their own child’s medication. Why oh earth does something this simple take so long. We weren’t even in that full of a waiting room. Very frustrating. We could have gone to an urgent care and been taken care of all within 45 minutes max.

Doctors, nurses and Techs have been amazing. ER check in staff and security are the rudest I have every experienced. ER check in staff to busy on their phone while you stand in front of them and need to get their attention. Security down right nasty. People in beds I. The hall way for over 16 hours sitting in soiled beds. This is horrific. I would be ashamed if I was an employee within this system. Administration needs to do something!

My Mom (which she doesn’t speak English) was transported to this hospital. When I got to the emergency entrance I wasn’t allowed in. The security claimed that if they need me they will call. I had to right my information on a form. When I grabbed the clipboard there was 4 people had their name ahead of me which they were supposed have been transported to the admin. Neither the security did their job nor the administration called me.

I had good experience too
I have to say that overall, I love Beaumont Health System. However, since they redid their ER in Royal Oak, the time you wait to be seen are outrageous. I've had to take someone there a couple of times and I can't believe how bad it is now.
This hospital has gone wayyyyy down hill. Very rude staff. I was in there in June after losing my mother and brother within 3 days if each other. There was an elderly lady on a stretcher moaning and a young staffer kept telling at her to shut up. If I had thought about it I should have recorded her on my phone and tried to take action. Another time I was in there the nurse had to call the on call doctor to explain my situation. She actually stood there in front of me laughing with the doctor. Right smack in front of me.
In addition to offering the vaccine to our frontline health care workers, a limited number of vaccination appointments are available to patients who meet the state and federal 1B criteria of being 65 and older. beaumont.org/covid-vaccine.
Go down to the the Chapel 1st floor you will find any holy book your heart could desire, including many variations of the bible. ❤
Researchers at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak are participating in a nationwide study to test the safety and efficacy of a COVID-19 vaccine being developed. The AZD1222 COVID-19 VACCINE Study will evaluate an investigational vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19 in adults. Due to the significant interest in participation in this study, Beaumont has paused registration. Visit beaumont.org/covid-trial for more information.
Definitely try another hospital. Beaumont's E.R. is horrid u will usually wait 6-8 hours to b seen. Run!
No they do not.
Hours. My mother was in ER 7 to 10 hrs. Very rude and uninformed staff about a patients medical condition even when a doctor personally sends their patients here. More armed security guards then a local police department. Metal detectors galore and must empty everything in your pockets to go through xray machine. Very unprofessional rude, unorganized and intimating place.
Some superstar nurses among their staff!
I agree with Marcella. You have to call and see. I am quite sure they would have Physiciatric help its a hospital!
Beaumont Taylor is where the pain management is located. They do assessment before prescribing anything.
Current visiting hours are from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. To find the most up to date visiting hours or to learn more, visit the visiting information button from the homepage.
A chapel is provided at each Beaumont hospital and are always open for those in need of meditation or prayer.
I had my oldest in 2000 there it was great, when I went back in 2011, it was the worst. I was hemmoraghing and the intern had no idea what was wrong. She tried to send me home while blood clots were coming out. They found the attending physician and she said rush me to have an emergency csection. Me or my baby could have died because that intern was so neglectful. And afterwards, while in my room I had no idea what happen, I was given 2 pints of blood. Not knowing how much blood i lost. A nurse that knew my mother had told me what happen. Not a single dam doctor came to my room to explain what happened and why i was hemmoraghing like i was. Placenta Abruption was what the nurse told me.
My poor mother went through the same thing. They left her in the hall for almost a whole afternoon.
We have cafe which has special made to order specials...which change daily.
Go to City Hall of the City you were born in. (Oakwood Dearborn-go to Dearborn City Hall)
Cause they're always on phone with anyone other than patients! I've seen it n heard it for myself #
I wouldn't go to Oakwood
I would call for sure. Maybe they will let you in.From what I know they are not letting anyone in. No visitors. Only if you have a tests or appointments.
I believe you should be able to?
You should talk to the Director of the hospital.
You should be able to call anytime
They are awesome don't worry
I believe they get evaluated and admitted and put on suicide watch
While having the the baby 2 only if it is virtual.if it's a C-section you're only allowed to have one person in the room. after the baby as mine as you want
Absolutely true! They say it is because the transport ambulances have to take emergency calls first. Don't know if that's true, but really ineffective for patients needing transport.
Bad response to my question! I ordered at 5:45 didn't get my order till after 7:00, the delivery person told me they were closed and couldn't help me. I told the nurse and she checked and it didn't help. The food service should be fired! I'm a heart patient
I forgot my sister
You can have the valet park your vehicle
This is a general q and a forum. You need to visit a doctor.
I agree with you
I dont have experience with L&D but we were there at midnight when my daughter in law giving birth just let the security know
I dont know I never asked
I really dont have an answer for that specific question. I do know that after going to every hospital in the vicinity of Tampa, Fl and recieving no help with her condition. My daughter recieved the best care and was totally cured with the care she got in Beaumont hospital. We had to go all the way to Michigan for worthy treatment and her stay was the best ever. I will always be grateful for Beaumont in Dearborn.
The ICU is on the first floor to the right as soon as you walk in the building enterance
They take it to drug test and it's mandatory in mi at every hospital as it sgould be. I know people keep placenta to eat ect but why are you worried about them TAKING blood ? No offence makes you look like your trying to hide something because it's not in any religion to not take blood. (Not saying you are) they might let you take the placenta and let you have some but i wouldn't make a big deal out of it because that makes you look guilty and if you are taking or doing something better to tell them up front again not saying you are just if. I agree with these hospitals drug testing everyone when baby is born i don't take offense got nothing to hide and some women do and will lie so that's only way to tell and get her and baby proper care and help
It seems the later you go, the busier they are
They have Rose Cancer Center and a genetic testing area
