Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the palace hotel. Check-in was a breeze and they call you in advance to collect details which makes things so much easier. The parking lot is right behind the hotel which is convenient. The rooms are so beautiful and charming and even though the hotel is old, it is very well maintained and clean. Will certainly stay here again! Just a heads up, there is no elevator but they communicate that right at the beginning so we were prepared.

We fell in love with the photos of the Amundsen room on the website, and I'm happy to report that the room--and the hotel--lived up to every one of our expectations. So charming and comfortable. We stayed four nights, ate great food at restaurants within walking distance, had breakfast in our room each morning with baked goods from Pane d'Amore (also within walking distance) and loved our time there. The woman who checked us in was so helpful and kind. As mentioned on the website, the building has no elevator or air conditioning, which might be a problem certain times of the year, but we didn't mind either.

This was my second stay at The Palace, I came back again for the great location & ambiance. This time we stayed in "Miss Simone," an apartment on the third floor with Victorian decor. The space itself is comprised of a cute open living space/ kitchen combo with separate bedroom & bathroom (with the biggest hand & face washing sink I've ever seen). There's plenty of room to hang out and relax, the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal with ingredients from the local grocers or reheat your leftovers for a midnight snack (try Hudson Cafe, Waterfront Pizza, or Fountain Cafe-- all in walking distance). I loved the high ceilings, exposed brick, and cute sofa. It felt like a perfect cozy getaway spot nestled in the heart of downtown PT. This room's windows face the quiet side of the building looking over the private parking lot and up to Washington street-- but it still has a great view of the old uptown Belltower. I would happily choose this room again, photos on official website accurately portray the room and the beautiful common areas of the hotel. Though this hotel is dog-friendly, the room was immaculate and didn't set off my allergies.

Such a great old building with so much personality. The stairs are a bit much but it's a good work out. Convenient location and great staff. Appreciate that I could bring my dog. Surprisingly quiet at night for being right downtown. We will definitely be back as this is our new favorite place to stay.

We have stayed there with our dog but they must have pet free rooms if not just a couple. They wouldn't try to alienate clientele like that I would imagine.
Good dogs are welcome
