Very nice walkway lot's of birds

It was a beautiful walk, but the wooden section was absolutely murder on my knees and back. 10 years ago I would have given it 5 stars and loved how bouncy it was, but it isn't really in the best repair at all spots and the supports are really just too far apart to allow for a truly stable path. That said, the plastic sections over the water were rock solid and in fantastic condition.

This is a really cool marshy plot of land with an amazingly constructed boardwalk that lets you walk through the middle of it without getting your feet wet (though I somehow managed, inadvertently stepping off the boards while snapping pictures). Sycamore Land Trust did a great job here. Makes this accessible for all. I need to come back when the leaves are all down to see the bald eagles and beaver dams.

Is the path good for strollers?

I do see strollers out there often. The path is not easy if we've had a lot of rain. The metal path is great and it makes a nice walk to do just that part.

Looks like a great place to unwind. Is there a fee? Parking lot??

Parking lot and no fee. Gravel walk in to plastic boardwalk, then wooden boardwalks. Some of the wooden areas are loose/broken, but easily navigated. Observation decks and benches throughout. Part of the area is closed due to tornado damage, but still a great trail.

What is the best time of year to view the orchids? My wife would really enjoy the flowers.

Hey Bob, it's Abby from Sycamore. Orchids in Indiana bloom from April through November, depending on the species. Right now you can see purple fringeless orchids blooming right along the boardwalk! Check out the wooden sections, which is where we've been seeing them right now.

Weather has been a real factor in delaying our progress! Stay tuned to our website for updates - we hope to have the new boardwalk open by spring. www.sycamorelandtrust.org
