Like the name suggests, it is an Urban organization. If you are coming from village and need to learn the city speak and integrate yourself into the city, Urban league is the best place. They have lots of facilities and one of them is a drop in center. It is a place to learn the social skills of the city and get yourself placed in the social hierarchy of the city. The instructors can come off as rude. That is the speak of city of US. If you were in a European city, then people will be polite no matter what, but in US people speak loud and in a rude manner no matter what, especially in the cities. Now they will give you money after you complete education. Use that money wisely. As in for social integration and skills. Using that money for coffee at a cafe while all dressed up. Using that money to behave properly in a semi formal to formal setting is a best way to integrate yourself into the life of the city. They recommend people get jobs with uplift. It is one of the best staffing companies in the US. Behave well with them and they will offer career opportunities, vocational training, and higher paying and very respectable jobs. The urban league also doesn't stop you if you are getting job elsewhere. Choose wisely. Wisely in this case means where do you feel comfortable in the social hierarchy of the city. The people of Urban league first ask you to respect them like they are your parents, then like parents give you opportunities to speak up and speak in an uply fashion. They are very helpful and highly skilled people. Once you go through their programs and go through the process of spending great amount of time with them, you will become a person who is well integrated into the city of Seattle. They welcome people of all skin colors and they respect and treat them equally. They demand things and actions from you. It is lucky to have someone demand things from you. Obviously, dont be very complicit or come off as rude. It is for you to learn the social skills needed to navigate the city without being taken advantage off or being harmed. Good luck and have a nice journey getting integrated by the best of the US. :)

Worse place to ever get help from. They don’t follow up with you . First they say it will take 2 weeks. It has been 2 weeks and no follow up. I called and the girl maya is just rude and unprofessional. Why work for a place to help people when you dont . Pathetic.

I’ve had two poor experiences with staff members at this branch—in 2014 and now in 2018, when I went to a Homebuyer’s Seminar. Ms. Linda Taylor aggressively told me I shouldn’t have wasted her time, and a room full of Urban League employees had nothing to say about my mistreatment. I’m unsurprised after talking with other community members. What a shame.
