Stopped in while visiting Seattle because we had heard good things. We were not disappointed. You cannot make reservations here. Usually if you just want to go to the observation deck you can get up there pretty quickly. We went for dinner and drinks in the Chinese Room at the top. It was about a 40n minute wait for a party of 4 on a Saturday evening. Not bad. The food and drinks are pricey but good. You can walk 360 degrees around the top to see Seattle. You get the history of the building on the way up, and both the elevator and the Chinese Room are unique. We would highly recommend visiting!

Beautiful observatory and well preserved. You'll find a typewriter on the first floor where you can show your kiddos how we used to do our essays lol! The elevator is the original from last century and there is a restaurant-bar at the top where the observatory is. Nice view but is all fenced with bars unlike newer buildings where the look out is protected by glass to not affect the panoramic view. Is not very busy I guess because there's more modern lookout, but you can't reserve tickets and they say sometimes the wait time could be more than one hour Children under 6 are free and if you have Washington ID you'll get 20% off! 😉

Had a wonderful time here! The tour where you see the life of someone who worked in this building was short but cool. The restaurant at the top has a great aesthetic. Price isn't terrible for the experience. My only gripe was the workers being quite robotic, the one who took our payment and got us sent up was nice but we had noticed she was using a robotic voice when explaining what to do and got her talking normal for a moment and then went back to the routine, same with the elevator guy. Not the end of the world but a little uncanny. The bars at the top deck obscure your view of the city a bit.

Amazing architecture and view! Did the tour and had drinks and pork dumpling appetizers at the Observatory Bar. Very good. *Note: We were lucky to get the window table with the view. This table is normally harder to get.

Guest of all ages are welcome in the observatory. Please check smithtower.com for the most up to date hours of operation.
You do, I believe it's $12 for locals and $26 or so for tourists. I think you can also "become member" for annual fee and get unlimited access to the bar / observation level
There is no free parking but there is a couple of parking garages across the street that usually always has parking. And there is a paid parking lot within a five min walk. The prices are all about the same. $17-18 for 10 hours. The parking garage directly across the street does not take MasterCard but takes Visa. Butler parking garage which takes Visa and MasterCard but there is only parking like 6 or 7 floors up. If you plan on needing parking all the time there is a app you can download Quick Pay and you don't have to deal with the machine. Also, if you plan on needing parking on a regular basis there is parking garages with 10 min walk that are like $150-200 a month for a parking pass. If you don't want to deal with parking you can take the Lightrail or the Sounder Train they both drop you off within a couple of minutes from the Smith Tower.
The Chinese room has been remodeled as the observation dec and is included with the purchase of any ticket
Yes. I've used mine there, but as others have said, the walkway is narrow so don't plan any elaborate set up. If you have a monopod, that would work ideally, as you can also incorporate the railing into steadying your camera as well.
No, it's a historic building with an observatory, office spaces to lease and event spaces to rent. The Observatory offers fun events and gives you free access to the observatory if you show your Seattle sports game day ticket. If you don't have a ticket you have to pay which I think is $19 per person or $15 for senior, military, student, or children. There is a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom home that was leased for 20 years in 1998 by Petra Franklin which takes up the entire top pyramid of the tower with a large wrap around balcony.
Yes, i think non Washington residents it was around $17. Residents was around $12.
If it is there was no activity during our visit.
I'm a Seattle native, and I wouldn't doubt it.
From memory there is an elevator available to the top floor and sliding doors on the viewing deck but I cannot recall the access into the elevator or the other Street access to the building.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the closing hours are at midnight.
The doors are similar to the old ones, lots of brass beams and glass, the only thing that has been replaced is the motor on the elevator. Essentially, you're getting the same ride just much quicker and smoother.
Yes, u need to pay to enter. $14 per adult if u have AAA membership
