Great glimpse into the life of a great Southern man. Stop by and support the museum and grounds.

For the history, good place to visit, can no longer go in house, due to vandalism,

A well documented history and collection of memorabilia...thought I would do a quick walk through but got caught up in the well crafted displays.

Nicely kept and smells amazing! Free unless given a guided tour. Bring cash.

Two terms as Governor of North Carolina, a U.S. Senator and a Civil War Military Confederate Officer. In addition, he was a prolific writer.
Zebulon Baird Vance was a Confederate military officer in the American Civil War, the 37th and 43rd Governor of North Carolina, and U.S. Senator.
Not sure. But if I had to guess then I would say yes.
In the pictures there is a picture that tells the story of the Vance brothers. Zoom in and it will give you some insite
He was governor of NC during the civil war, later congressman, then once again governor post civil war. He was on the Confederate side but represented a somewhat more moderate view and worked to reunite the North and South after the war. Politician through and through. The house and historical provide an interesting glimpse into the darker moments of our history as a nation. Places like this should be preserved so that we know where we came from as a nation and so that do not repeat the mistakes of our past.
