Met-Ed/First Energy is absurd and I am livid I need to deal with this company. I recently bought a 1/2 million dollar home. I called in yesterday to transfer accounts from the seller to my name as I am moving in on Friday. I am a new customer. PERIOD. I have never used this company before. They run your credit score before you can open an account??? They then make me pay a $372 SECIRITY DEPOSIT + an additional $4.75 service charge. I will get the $372 back in TWELVE MONTHS. That's a lot of coin to put out to NOT get back for a year. When I google WTH this is about, it gives you some lame excuse about IF you owe money to Met-Ed/First Energy OR another company this is THEIR procedure. My entire life I have ONLY ever used PECO. I have NEVER owed them ANY money. EVER! If I had another option, I would NEVER EVER use Met-Ed/First Energy. Unfortunately, I do NOT have another option in the area I just purchased a home in. Crazy to me I can purchase a $450K home but have to pay a DEPOSIT for electric? This company IS corrupt. Cant wait until next year to hear their excuse of WHY I cant get my deposit back. Oh, and I almost forgot, each month you pay a $12.50 SERVICE charge to this company.

One of the worst power companies in the state!!! Power is always going off, no storms etc. When a dark cloud goes over we hold are breath. Never given a reason for outage. Just given estimated time for return of power. By the way, estimates are never correct!! PUC should be checking on these clowns.

Squirrels keep getting on my effing wires on my transformer and they won't send out anyone to put something on it to prevent it. 7 times in 8 months so far , as of this morning. I guess they won't be happy until it causes a fire and I sue them.

I hope someone called the police. Both companies have their own records of your bills, they wouldn't need to come read the copy they sent you.
Hi Noel, if the old bill is current (not past due by over 30 days), they typically send a new copy of it to the new address. This is to my understanding but calling them pretty much works. I've found that supplier to be pretty good. Good luck.
Yes. See there website for details or you can call their customer service number. Just be sure not to push the option on reporting a power outage like I did. They couldn't transfer me back to the main system so had to dial again and listen to the options before a customer service rep could tell me where to go.
Itll be on your bill. Typcially top right
Call 811 for utility markings if yoir going to dig up stump.
You cannot cancel utility payments. You would have to contact your bank.
Depends on what it is touching. If it is touching the primary wires, this could be very dangerous. Should call Met Ed's 800 number to report this. If it is touching the secondary wires, they are lower voltage but still plenty dangerous. Those wires are insulated, but the contact could pierce the insulation. Should seek professional help.

Get a professional to cut your tree away. There too many deaths of people trying to do it on there own.
For most yes. But you can always get that waived depending on income. If you don't make much you can always explain that and see if they waive it or have it broken down into payments every month into your bill.
Heard that met ed is waitin g for storm to pass. Which won't be till 6 am Saturday morning. It better come back on by 5 no later than 6. If our snakes die all hell will break lose
