From the speaking to the doctor. So nice

I’ve had an amazing experience so far at this facility and another HSS facility. I feel like some background info is necessary so this is going to be a long one! I’m only 29, and have been having this pain in my hip for 10 or so years now. I’ve never had any injuries, been in a car accident, or played any major sports, and my symptoms don’t fit neatly into one specific diagnoses - so trying to figure out a solution thus far has been frustrating to say the least. I’ve seen other doctors and did PT in the past, but nothing was helpful. I was treated like I was 92 instead of 29, and literally told to just stop doing what hurts it (which is basically everything.) they’d look at my x-rays, and at quick glance they look fine, so they’d send me on my way. If I lived the active lifestyle I love to have, my pain was always at a 10, and only stopped if I was completely sedentary, but with no better suggestions and lacking faith in seeing another doctor, I gave up for a while. But it was making me miserable! I wanted to get back to hiking and exercise, but also didn’t want to keep ignoring it and potentially have it get so bad I need surgery. So I finally saw a Dr again. Again, they looked at the x ray for 5 seconds and saw nothing, but still suggested PT. They gave me a list of recommended therapists so I picked an PT HSS facility near me. After 1.5/2 months there I saw some improvement, but not enough so they suggested I get another opinion, but instead sent me to one of their drs and specifically suggested Dr Buza. I was nervous it would be a waste of time again but they spoke highly of her so I went. First of all, Marilyn is the first nurse I spoke to, and she was so friendly and bubbly which immediately calmed my nerves. And Dr Buza was the same. Super friendly, and I actually felt like she cared. She had looked at my X-rays before even coming into the room, but like REALLY looked. She did some measurements and told me that even though my X-rays at first glance look fairly normal, this seemingly small issue on top of hyper mobility in my hip could be what’s causing the pain and that, especially over time could become really painful. She explained in detail but in a way I could understand, and I finally felt like someone cared and it wasn’t all in my head. She suggested an MRI just incase and then we will further discuss my options, but I am just so thrilled to have spoken to someone who cares and wants to find a solution so her patients can live their best life.

Do not come on time come 30-45 minutes early. Between check-in and waiting to be seen you will be waiting.

Yes large parking lot!!!
No, all surgery is done in the city but you can see doctors in Westchester & in the Stamford locations up until surgery & for post surgery visits.
Neurologist.
My experience with mri for the knee is that you are put in feet first & beyond your knees but your head & upper body are outside the tube. Instructions are spoken to you prior to any movement of the mri & you are always informed of exactly what to do, what will happen before so if you have any comments or for any reason a concern, you will be heard.
it depends on the doctor. the hss website lists insurances accepted by each doctor. Good luck
