Had a great time at the museum. It’s a beautiful building. I enjoyed the Egyptian artifacts, while my kids loved the dinosaurs. The cafe wasn’t bad either, with very thick slices of pizza at a reasonable price.

Dinosaurs, rocks, minerals, fossils; this place has everything! Some really impressive displays of things that come from the Earth from the ancient and recent past! Layout is easy to navigate and overall not crowded when we went!

Incredible ! Awesome! Extraordinary ! Wow and more wow. This Natural Museum in Pittsburgh is one museum that you must not missed. The dinosaurs on display are "real". The explanations are so detailed and yet simple to understand. Children will definitely be amazed by all the displays and the details of the display. Do not miss the T Rex from Pittsburgh it self. ! Certainly a must visit place. If you have visited, you need to return again!

Haven't been here since I was a kid. The place is nicely kept. The exhibits look clean and maintained. There isn't a lot of guidance or explanation for kids (mine are kindergarten age). Even the kids discovery area has no museum staff to guide the youngsters. The only place with guidance was the kids fossil dig area. There were curators available to answer questions about the exhibits, but very geared toward adult comprehension.

Where can I find out more about what's on the outside of the building right now?

Thanks for your question! If you are referring to the artwork on the front of the main entrance, that is a piece by El Anatsui, a contemporary artist who works with found materials to create massive sculptures. If you are referring to the neon names that go around the top of the building, that is an installation by artist Tavares Strachan, who wanted to highlight the names of people who have contributed to history and culture but have often been overlooked in historical memory. Both works are part of the ongoing 'Carnegie International' exhibition, which will be up until March 25, 2019.
