Unprofessional and unreliable. They said they would take someone and when they got there changed their minds. They should do better with their pre-screening process. It's a joke

i came here unwillingly in 2017 for MH needs. i willingly called them and asked for help again in 2019 For PPD & suicidal thoughts and didn’t waste a second before asking if i was safe and if i needed a ride there. they helped me so much, i felt so cared for and the staff is always eager to help. i’m always referring people with mental health issues or addiction problems to highland springs. 10/10. they treat you like a person, not another patient.

My son and I went there as he is having major trouble with addiction. We were turned away as “he is not a threat to himself or anyone else” So in other words he has to be suicidal or hurt someone to be admitted. They did offer outpatient but in his state that would only allow him to still use.

I came to Highland Springs to get help. It used to be the best place in North East Ohio. They are completely ADA non compliant. My service animal was grabbed by the muzzle and then lunged at by a staff member. I was discharged after saying I was still suicidal. Nurses have given patients the wrong medication. I was denied a phone by staff when I wanted to call the patients rights advocate. This has seriously gone downhill. The Director of nursing was so high when I talked to her I got no results. Kitchen staff is verbally abusive during the week with no consequences. Nurses consistently deny patients their as needed meds if they don’t like the patient. No documentation of events by staff so psychiatrists have no clue what’s going on. Patients threatened with seclusion or drugged for having a panic attack. 99% of the staff is covering up all the illegal activity going on here. A girl hung herself in the seclusion room and the footage disappeared. Patients committing self harm in the unit and nothing being done about it. Employees on their phones not paying attention. Lack of consistency in daily routine and constant hippa violations to the point of me knowing peoples diagnosis, medication and dosage. A 19 year old girl had to scream for staff to help her roommate who was having a ptsd episode and beating herself bc the nurses said she just needed to calm down. Patients not being given their insulin. This is a dangerous place to take someone you love.

They give you 5 smoke breaks a day
They have services for mental, drug and alcohol. If someone needs assistance mentally then they will go to that specific area. They can treat more than one issue at same time. Not sure about kids visiting.
No they are not, though they do have separate rooms. But they co-mingle on each wing.
Highland only provides transport within 25miles of their facility. Try calling your insurance for a ride if you can't find one!
There aren’t any
Yes and you absolutely should right away!
Yes, they can smoke. They are given opportunities throughout the day to go outside to do so. No, you may not bring money, I'm not sure if they can be brought in. The rooms are shared with one other person.
I would call them and let them know you are seeking treatment You don't need a referral
No you can walk in 24.7 for an assessment
Unless your fiancé has signed a release of information, the hospital legally can’t tell you anything. It is a federal privacy law.

Yes
They can call between 7am and 11pm daily. However if there is group therapy going on they can’t use the phones or watch tv. Usually more downtime in the evening after dinner
yes, that's what I have and I went there. however you may have to pay some things out of pocket, most insurances do not recover all mental health costs.
They prob won’t accept you if you don’t have insurance. Or they will tell you that your insurance covers your stay and while your in there trying to get treatment and de stress they will hand you a 3600 bill
This facility will take payments out of pocket. Best wishes.
No. They have dogs come on Sundays for therapy day!
That is not how it works. It is dependent on when other patients discharge and beds become available. Calling every day won’t speed up another patient’s discharge.
Please give us a call and we can discuss some options.
It may have to be pre approved. I would call your insurance company directly and ask. I hope this helps you. I did outpatient there and got alot of help.
