If I could give zero stars I would. First day was coming to see i was coming I had the right location for this campsite. I’m thinking it’s on the beach I was completely wrong I still had to go through the Forrest. I caught a blowout by the time I get here it’s like 11:00pm I start looking for my campsite it keep bringing back unto the same spot to a gated area that looks federal. Nobody answer I’ve been trying to hold of someone since then just because but the other cool thing is places to do laid and everything. I had spoken with a Sargent at 923 and an actual officer didn’t pop up till like 5030 Pam and 6:00 pm

Local legend attributes the forest's unusual name to Cebe Tate, a local homesteader who became lost in the woods in the mid 1870s. He had ventured into the woods with his hunting dog in order to shoot a panther that had attacked his livestock. The legend is often recounted with Tate becoming separated from his dogs and lost for seven days and seven nights before coming to a clearing near Carrabelle, where he lived only long enough to say to a passerby "My name is Cebe Tate, and I just came from Hell" before collapsing.
At some places. But I usually just park & camp v
I don't know where Brunt Bridge is, but the rangers at Tate Hell headquarters in Carrabelle would probably know. Their number is 850) 697 - 3734. Good luck in your journey!
There should be maps of different tracts available from Fla Dept of Agriculture. https://www.freshfromflorida.com/Divisions-Offices/Florida-Forest-Service/Our-Forests/State-Forests/Tate-s-Hell-State-Forest
I'm truly not sure if you can or can not on the walking trails? I would contact the state parks office? There are hundreds of miles of gravel dirt roads in 4 by 4 Trails through these Woods that I'm sure you could ride four-wheelers on. Note the reason it's called Tate's hell is William Tate went in after a panther sometime in the early years of Florida as it was killing his livestock and stayed lost in there for over a week. When he finally stumbled out covered in snake bites ticks and mosquito bites he simply said he had been through hell before he died. This is very serious Florida wilderness
There sure is. Google The Legend of Cebe Tate. It's a fascinating story!
There is some great folklore about this place. Definitely Google the legend of Tates Hell. There us even a film about it which was produced by FSU. I've been through hell, and you don't want to do it without emergency supplies. Cell service is poor. Roads can be impassable. Bears, panthers, wild hogs, gators, mosquitos. Not where you want to be without shelter, food and firearms.
No entrance fee but you have to sell your soul to the bug spray gods
Yes you can get a map from visitor center and there are places you can camp
They state camping areas, mostly for sportsmen. It requires a state recreational use permit, avail. Thru cty. Agent or fwc.
The best is to stop at the game and fish commission, office for Tate Hell,, on hi way 98, between carrabelle and East point office. Mostly you'll find, it's a wildlife management area, hired thousand acres. Great place to hunt
