I see DrRusso has over one hundred all positive reviews. My experience was the opposite. Toward the end of 2021 I made an appointment in August to see Dr Russo in October (he was very busy). Several times during the over two month wait period I called his office to see if my appointment could be moved up because my hip infection was getting worse. They told me no! By the way Dr Russo didn’t cause the infection. I arrived at his office, filled out numerous forms and met with him. He was very personable and spent 1/2 hour explaining way he couldn’t help me. He sent me a bill which I paid. I wasted two months trying to get help for my infection. I have since been treated elsewhere but am very disappointed by how I was treated.by Dr Russo and his office staff. Peter Kirk

I have to say I was disappointed with my consultation with Dr. Russo. Between the recommendations from 2 friends and the good reviews I had high expectations for my appointment. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. I was caught up in some miscommunication from when I was put in the exam room regarding whether I had my xrays done so I ended up waiting for 40 minutes before seeing someone. Then the PA came in and was very minimal in her pre assessment prior to seeing Dr. Russo. Her questions were few and curt, cutting me off when I tried answering them. Her physical exam was less than 30 seconds having me move my leg 2 ways saying I was flexible. (Interesting that another Ortho and my PT said the opposite) Another 15 minute wait before Dr. Russo came in. He was personable but quick and to the point with no physical exam of his own. My final frustration is that I was told to come in early and fill out pages of history, issue questions etc. They were still sitting on the chair next to me when I left with no one even bothering to look at them which was a total waste of my time! Update: I did appreciate Dr. Russo's quick response and in retrospect I was too harsh with part off my review which I have since taken out. As I have said I had several excellent recommendations from friends for Dr. Russo and will have to chalk up my experience as not the norm.

Super knowledgeable, explained all my options and the process in detail for my total hip replacement, made me feel very comfortable. It's now 6 weeks post surgery, absolutely a great experience with Dr Russo and his whole team. Everyone (yes everyone) is super responsive from the schedulers, the PA's and of course Dr Russo. Highly recommend, I had a lot of options, so glad I choose Dr Russo.

Questions & Answers

Do you use a product called orthovisc or synvisc for knee pain? Or is there any other suggestion for knee pain due to arthritis but not necessarily needing knee replacement?

Carla Mantle | Oct 27, 2020

Hi Carla, thank you for your question. As you might imagine knee pain due to osteoarthritis is a spectrum and there are various treatment options prior to surgery everyone should consider depending on where you are on the spectrum including both topical and systemic anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, weight loss, activity modification, bracing, and yes, injection treatments such as steroid, visco supplementation (such as orthovisc), and PRP. Most insurances allow us to provide the orthovisc injections in our office but some require us to send you to a different provider. Ultimately choosing the right treatment plan depends on both the severity and location of the degeneration in your knee. I look forward to discussing what will work best for you!

Does he do Robotic knee surgery?

Kathy Ciotti | Oct 27, 2020
Matthew Russo, M.D. | Oct 27, 2020

Hi Kathy, thank you for your question. The short answer is yes! Depending on the needs of the patient, I will choose to perform either robotic or manual instrumentation for knee replacement surgery. Typically I prefer all partial knee replacement undergo a robotic or computer navigated technique. Total knee replacement however depends on several individual patient factors that I am happy to discuss in the office. Looking forward to meeting you and discussing the right treatment option for you.
