Do you use a product called orthovisc or synvisc for knee pain? Or is there any other suggestion for knee pain due to arthritis but not necessarily needing knee replacement?

Hi Carla, thank you for your question. As you might imagine knee pain due to osteoarthritis is a spectrum and there are various treatment options prior to surgery everyone should consider depending on where you are on the spectrum including both topical and systemic anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, weight loss, activity modification, bracing, and yes, injection treatments such as steroid, visco supplementation (such as orthovisc), and PRP. Most insurances allow us to provide the orthovisc injections in our office but some require us to send you to a different provider. Ultimately choosing the right treatment plan depends on both the severity and location of the degeneration in your knee. I look forward to discussing what will work best for you!
