My mom was recently here for three and a half weeks to have an evaluation due to aggressive behaviors brought on by dementia. During that time, I spoke to a nurse one time. I called multiple times every day only to be put through to the nurse’s station where no one answered. I was even told once by the operator that the nurses don’t really answer the phones. My mom was released back to her nursing home with no lab results and only three days of clinical notes. When she arrived at the nursing home, it was clear that they had not medicated her correctly as she continued to have the same aggressive behaviors as before she was admitted to Mayhill. She is now in another facility for another evaluation. The new facility told us that her medications were not at all appropriate for someone with dementia. I am very disappointed in the care she received.

This place is a joke after assuring us they would contact us(my son gave permission) BEFORE they release him they DID NOT. He has been out for four days walking the streets in Denton and no one told us he had been release he just happened to call us asking for money. Praying for his safe return home.

As an adult who chose to admit themselves inpatient, I could not be happier with my care here. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. They took my opinions into account on every decision as far as my care goes. If you are an adult who does not depend on the care of another, highly recommended place of care.

I have been here 2X, UBH Denton 1X, Millwood Arlington 1X, Helen Farabee Wise County MHMR 1X. I was only able to be ONE time voluntary and then leave when I wanted even though the doctor wanted me to stay. Money IS the root of all evil and this place can and will hold you INVOLUNTARY which means you cant leave till THEY say. The reason is simple MONEY they prefer to milk your insurance rather than really help you. Sad but true. I would know too. I am posting this so you know this: You must know you will be in these places on average 7-10 days. You must take the meds the doctor prescribes, this is know as being "med compliant" do not let them bully you because your rights which are in the bill of rights apply always even in these places. They can not touch you, they can not tell you to go to your room. They bully people but not me because I KNOW nobody can make you do anything without a court order! They don't want me there now haha! Go figure huh!
I visited suffering from anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. They do not treat anything here. It's a containment facility, and I was even worse once I was finally able to leave (they also refuse to let you leave, which is breaking the law if you check yourself in, which I did). This "hospital" actually made me suffer worse and I was already in a very dark place. I now refuse to seek treatment because I fear places like this, which is never good for people with mental disorders. PLEASE save yourself and seek treatment elsewhere. PLEASE.
I would never put my worst enemy in mayhill
Yes
There are 4 cigarette breaks per day depending on the unit and the coffee is caffeinated. It is now required that you do bring your own cigarettes though
Yes they do. They finally changed my Klonopin to Ativan. 10 / 2018
Anything without hoods, strings or excessive holes
My experience at Mayhill was positive one. Dr. Islam, who is the main psychiatrist there, really knows his stuff. They offer inpatient care, I wasn't in inpatient, however, I did their partial hospitalization program and had 5 (shock) Electroconvulsive treatments, which sound much worse than it really is. If the PHP and ECT are any judge of what inpatient is like, then your father in law is in good hands. Hope this helps !
