My experience at Mayhill was positive one. Dr. Islam, who is the main psychiatrist there, really knows his stuff. They offer inpatient care, I wasn't in inpatient, however, I did their partial hospitalization program and had 5 (shock) Electroconvulsive treatments, which sound much worse than it really is. If the PHP and ECT are any judge of what inpatient is like, then your father in law is in good hands. Hope this helps !
It's a fully functional mental health institution with Nurses and Md's. Your father in law will most likely not get shock therapy. ECT or electroconvulsive therapy is for people with sever depression that medication don't work for. He's foing to be on medication to stablize him, i highly doubt they'll shock him. Good luck to your family.
Thank you to both of you. We will keep praying he stabilizes quickly.
