If I could give them no stars that is what they deserve. We were with them for my father in law and it was a complete cluster. At the very end of life they were not there and did nothing to help or make things easier. They actually made things worse. My father in law was in an assisted living facility and they were the hospice care that failed us by not having anyone available when he started failing. The assisted living facility could not reach them so they called 911. We showed up at the same time as the ambulance and were told by the paramedic that if he is in hospice and has a DNR, he should not be going to the hospital but instead hospice should be here. The assisted living facility finally got ahold of someone at Kindred and they told them someone could be there but we would need to wait a bit. Paramedics said, he is struggling to breathe and needs help now. The decision was made to take him to the hospital to get him out of pain and suffering. Once he was stabilized at the hospital, the nurse and doctor both said, he should not be here he has a DNR and is affiliated with Kindred Hospice. The hospital talked with Kindred and they said they had someone there at the assisted living facility but they were sitting in the parking lot so they didn’t get in the way. REALLY! The assisted living facility could not take him back, due to Covid at the time and because Kindred had no facility they could no longer assist. If 911 had never been called, and Kindred showed up as we were told they would, he never would have had to leave his assisted living facility, but due to Kindred’s negligence he could not go back. The hospital knew he should not be there, the assisted living facility could not take him back and kindred had no answers. It was awful! The hospital did connect us with JourneyCare who did take him at the last minute and they were wonderful!! After he passed we tried talking to Kindred and it was everyone else’s fault. Excuses after excuses! Very sad. It has been just over a year since my father in law has passed and I am finally able to give them a review without being slanted and write an inappropriate review. What they were hired for and when we needed them the most they were not there and took no responsibility. Very sad, hurtful and disappointing. We did our best to carry out our loved ones wishes only to be squashed by Kindred.

With pain and symptom management, as well as education and support, hospice care allows patients and families to focus on what is truly important When Life Matters Most. It is a unique health care approach in which the patient and family are the focus, not the disease. Hospice care helps patients and their families make the most of the time that remains. Hospice is a team of specially trained health care professionals caring for the patient and relieving anxiety for the caregiver/family. Our hospice support team helps patients and families with pain and symptom management, social, emotional, and grief issues. Hospice brings comfort and quality to the remaining months, weeks, and days.
Hospice care is for people who have a life-limiting illness with a life expectancy of six months or less, and have chosen to focus on comfort care over treatment. Hospice works with the patient and family to develop a plan of care specific to their disease and individual needs. Eligibility criteria includes frequent hospitalizations, progressive weight loss, deteriorating mental abilities, frequent infections, and/or an overall decline in condition.
