One of the best doctors office's I've ever been in. Easy going super friendly staff that make it easy to show up and do my routines. Dr. Drew really does know the human body and seem to really enjoy what he does. And to me that makes a big difference when he tells me new exercises. A great choice.

Dr. Drew and the team at Hawkeye are the best in the area. My pain and stiffness has progressed tremendously over the time of my program at Hawkeye.

It's been early weeks, but can already say I feel the difference from my original back pain. It's not just getting adjustments, but the whole experience with the stretching exercises, devices and easy going environment with the Dr Drew and his whole staff. 6 month+ Update: Getting rid of my back pain was just the first step. I thought that would be it only to realize now that I've gotten addicted to the stretches and exercises that I learnt here and do it on a regular basis post workouts. Recovery is much quicker even after getting knocks from a soccer game. Never thought this would become part of a lifestyle, but it truly has. Thanks Dr Drew and team.

Can chiropractors treat TMJ?

Robert Washburn | Oct 27, 2020
Hawkeye Chiropractic | Oct 27, 2020

Hi Robert! Thank you for your question! Chiropractic is an alternative to those more invasive treatments. Chiropractic care for TMJ can ease pain by correcting misalignments between the spine and nervous system. Chiropractic care can be effective at reducing the pain associated with TMJ, either when used alone or as a complement to other treatments. This is because, rather than change the diet or modify the teeth, it relaxes the muscles, adjusts the joint and uses specific trigger points to accurately re-position the jaw. When done successfully, this will not only relieve pain in the short term (as would medications or eating soft foods), but it will help prevent TMJ pain from returning. Chiropractic treatment of the temporomandibular joint focuses on relieving tension in the muscles around the joints themselves. I hope this helps answer your question! Doc V

Is it normal to hurt after chiropractic adjustments?

Bennie Hale | Oct 27, 2020
Hawkeye Chiropractic | Oct 27, 2020

Hi Bennie! Thank you for your question! Chiropractic adjustments usually do not hurt. Adjustments to certain joints in the spine or extremities may feel slightly uncomfortable or pressure, but once the adjustment is performed you should not feel pain. In general, patients enjoy being adjusted and like the way that the adjustment feels. The adjustment also helps relax the patient. If it is your first time ever being adjusted, you may experience slight soreness or discomfort for 12-24 hrs. following the first adjustment. This is very common and is relieved by ice and stretching. We inform out patients that in response to their first adjustment it is very common to feel sore or "like you worked out" type of discomfort following the adjustment. The adjustment helps restore the alignment of the spine and puts motion back into the joint that is hypo-mobile (not moving in its full range of motion). I hope this helps answer your question! If you have anymore please give us a call! Doc V

Is chiropractic care considered holistic?

Rachel Nelson | Oct 27, 2020
Hawkeye Chiropractic | Oct 27, 2020

Hi Rachel! Thank you for your question! As a Chiropractor I do consider myself a holistic health practitioner and believe that medication and surgery, while helpful to some patients, should only be utilized as an option of last resort. I believe that safe and natural steps are the best ways to treat disease. These natural steps include: - Lifestyle changes, like diet and exercise programs. - Chiropractic spinal adjustments. - Stress reduction techniques to increase wellness and overall vitalism. At Hawkeye Chiropractic we believe that disease should be treated at its root cause, instead of managing the symptoms alone. This root cause of dis-ease would be called a spinal subluxation (misalignment). By combatting the initial problems root cause we are able to get rid of the problem without the use of drugs and surgery. As always, if you have anymore questions please feel free to call the office directly at 847-472-1224! We would love to help you with any healthcare questions! DocV

How long does it take to see results from a chiropractor?

Andrew Mendell | Oct 27, 2020
Hawkeye Chiropractic | Oct 27, 2020

Hi Andrew! Great question! The speed of a patients results depend not only on the diagnosis, age or severity of the condition but also by the techniques used by the clinician to treat the patient. At Hawkeye Chiropractic Dr. Drew specializes in a wide range of techniques that he uses to treat newborns all the way up to his ninety year old patients. Dr. Drew believes that every person is different and tailors the treatment given to the patient based on the medical necessity needed. In our office we are not a "one size fits all system". Every patient has a custom treatment plan built for them by Dr. Drew, which is based upon the goals set up at the beginning of the consultation. If you have a specific question about a condition or treatment we recommend you setup a 1-on-1 detailed consultation with Dr. Drew so he can help assess the problem with you! All the best, Team Hawkeye Chiropractic
