This is a really nice small state park with nice hiking trails and access points to the clear waters of the South Llano River. Lots of wildlife and a great place for dogs to explore with their humans. The bathrooms are well kept and sites are clean with good amounts of space between your neighbors. AT&T service is good, but Verizon does not work here.

Our first ever camping experience in a state park. The camp site we booked was a electric hookup type and the facilities are nothing short of world class. The park is very well maintained and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. In terms of connectivity, the park is just 10 mins drive off the town. Apparently this place is a bird lovers paradise and we didn't know that until we were here . Spotted a lot of birds in the park and learnt about a new hobby.

We camped at a walk in camping space for two nights in March. Overnight low was 22. Yikes! Check the weather before you come… The walk in camping sites are great. W01 is set of by itself and is, I think, the largest. The rest are grouped together with some, but not tons of privacy. Great place to camp and hike.

Immediately upon arriving you could spot numerous armadillos and after hiking you could also see wild hogs and deer. The staff was very friendly, and the grounds were well kept. Definitely bring water shoes because there are rocks in the river. Overall, it was a nice peaceful experience.

We just went about 3 weeks ago; Water was great for swimming, tubing, kayaking, fishing!
Cooking out over a open fire is allowed or BBQ. Unless under a current fire ban so make sure to ask when you arrive.
I don't know, but I seriously doubt it. They don't want anything but memory making pictures taken. No keepsakes removed of any kind. I would call directly and speak with a ranger.
There is potable water at each rv/trailer/camping site. I don't think the water is potable at the dump station.
Yes, although they are not allowed in certain areas like the bird blind.
No stables (like some of the other parks, Sommerville and Caprock). Not sure they'd be allowed on the trails either?
Camping in the campgrounds, yes. Don't know Dean, sorry
There is a soda machine at the main gate
Texas state parks that allow horses on trails are posted on each park's page. Palo Duro and Big Bend are examples of this. I don't believe South Llano state park lists this activity
If a State Park locks their gates at night, usually around 10pm, they will give you the code.
You're looking at about 50 or 60
Yes, there is RV camping...about 60 sites available. You would need to book then through the Texas Parks reservation site.
No ma'am! There's firewood available with a "recommended donation" on the right just before you get to the sites!
We had #4 and it was really great mid day on.
The public space at South Llano River SP for both. Especially after all the rain.
No problem with AT&T for calls and texts
All Texas State Parks have a day use fee which varies from $ 4 on up. Not sure about the amount at South Llano, but even campers are obligated to pay this fee based on number of overnight stays in addition to camping cost. Fee is per person.
Yes. Was there last week and birding was good. The blinds have been open for some time. Enjoy.
I was there last weekend. Only propane was allowed.
Yes they are open they are doing limited reservation you need to book on line at the state parks web site. It's usually booked 2 to 3 weeks so you need to plan on a time and pre buy your passes
As Michael said yes
We were just there this week. I'm not a bird watcher, but I hiked from the campground toward the river and there is a blind about a hundred yards in. There are others visible from the road between the highway and the park headquarters, some are small and nestled in the trees so may be hard to see from satellite images
Hunting is allowed thru tpwd drawings
The catfish are delicious out of the river. They are caught in the deep holes & are big. You may have to hike to find these holes. Juntion is 6 miles away. You can boondock in the city park & fish off the bank with no problem. ,
About 10 min or so depending where your campsite is. It is a nice walk through and there seemed to be several places to swim along the river. Just make sure you bring all your stuff so you don't have to make several trips. There is supposed to be a good float too, not sure where to find info on that.
Call them asap.
Nice swimming area at the low water crossing bridge. This is also the start of the tubing route. At the exit of the tubing there's another nice /pretty shallow swimming area.
No
most state parks have places to park an RV. if that's what your asking.
Lots of camping spots, but no cabins at the park. There are probably places to rent around Junction though. The park is great fun, but I'm not sure what shape it is in after the flooding last fall.
We saw several kayaks on our last trip. There are several spots that are deep enough that you can't touch the bottom and as previously mentioned, there will be spots you'll need to get out and carry your kayak.
As far as i know they are. I do not believe it flooded since my trip there. They're open
The park rangers there and in general Texas Parks and Wildlife Department do not monitor this forum. However I'm pretty sure the answer your question is no, you can't take gem stones or any other minerals out of the park.
Yes...but you have to call ahead for reservations to insure a rv site...weeks before to see if they have a site, or call the the park the day you want to show up
Absolutely you can. There are folk's occasionally fishing so keep em on a leash
I didnt see any fish worth catching or anyone even fishing. Park website doesn't have a lot of info on fishing and the south Llano is really small where it goes through the park.
There is a Lowe's grocery store in Junction. 10 minute drive.
Yes
8 is the max at any state park. At least thats how i understand it.
It's deep enough & has a good flow.
I'm going to corroborate what Jesse said. They have some of the nicest, cleanest campsites I've ever seen. And the staff is wonderful! One of my favorite places to escape to!
Yes, you have to walk up to the lookout, for sure.
