I have two children who belong to said place for about a year and a half. The largest is in the 9 to 10 category in basketball. All excellent. Good dynamics, good team and excellent coach who guides and motivates his team. Thus, achieving that child have a positive discipline. My second son is in the 3 to 4 categories in soccer. Coaches don't know how to address children. Today my son had an awkward situation. He threw the ball, so the ball hit a girl in the face. Automatically the girl's father and team coach yelled at my son and scolded him in a hostile manner. As if my son had intentionally thrown the ball. Not only that, but then the girl's mother arrives to continually look at my son with anger at what happened. I understand that being a sport of physical movements any accident could happen and even more so when they are children. It was a very hostile situation for my son and me. They should have trained people who know how to lead groups of young children because those who lead are parents. As of today, my son does not belong there again.

Im visiting Lakeland after being away for a few years. I have always loved this Y, and they continue to grow and improve. I truly feel like family when I’m there. The sense of community and connection the staff and members provide are remarkable. Not to mention the facility itself, so clean, spacious, and inviting. The group exercise classes are the best. Love the YMCA! Keep up the good work.

The childcare department NEVER answers the phone. This is extremely frustrating considering my children are there in THEIR CARE and I CAN NOT REACH THEM any time I have to call. I am having a very hard time accepting this as acceptable and now must look into finding a different afterschool program for next year. If this were an emergency, this would be a lot worse of a situation than a bad google review... It is completely unacceptable that I am unable to get ahold of the employees in the childcare dept. or even within the facility... a facility that happens to be getting paid a lot of money to watch someone else's children daily. The fact that I've called back to back waiting 15 mins the first time and 23 mins the second time and 10 mins the 3rd....each time- NO ONE has picked up the phone, is beyond frustrating!!!!!! Every time I've ever called, I have this same issue. I am DONE with it. It is unprofessional and downright unacceptable considering you are providing care for someone's child. The parent should be able to reach someone at ANY TIME.

Just posting as a warning to those with children- the childcare situation is completely unsafe. The childcare room is in the far back away from everyone, and when we signed up we were told there would always be a women in the room. Three times in a row we went and there was only one man in the room watching over the small children. We ended up cancelling our membership because my daughter didn’t feel safe being left with him. Spoke with Rene and she said they have no intentions on changing their policy and that they feel it would be no different to have a man in the room than if it were a female. So if you’re comfortable leaving your child with one man in a secluded room, or having a young man take your daughter to the potty alone, go for it but me and my family will be finding a new gym. So very disappointed in this policy! I grew up in the Y and it’s sad to see how downhill it has gone.

Yes there are zumba classes. Yes, there are zumba classes. The schedule is in a role they have when you enter.
I believe the facility reserves the b-ball court to set up a net. I believe they have an outdoor set up for kids, and the gym for tourneys.
We do not have a hot tub or steam room at our facility.
Unfortunately at this time, the handicap therapy pool is currently closed for repairs. We are waiting for some parts to come in that are on back order due to COVID. We hope to have it re-opened within the next few weeks. The YMCA embraces everyone.
Yes there is
Yes you need a membership. Membership is different for everyone. They used to have scholarships for different circumstances (pre-covid).I don't know if they still do. Kelly rec used to charge $2.00 per person each visit, again pre-covid.
Silver sneakers classes are open to any member of our facilities. You do need to make a reservation to hold your spot and classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:15 am and 12:15 pm.
