I went to them about 15 yrs ago to help with my electric they denied me my lights got cut off it was horrible. I came to them now in 2022 because the homeless coalition told me to and said they would help the difference this time is I'm disabled and they still denied me. About 20 yrs ago my sister went to the salvation army store to get furniture because she was a single parent and had no furniture they tried to charge her 400$ dollars for a used couch that had holes in it. I was like no you can get a new couch and love seat for that much. I will never in my life donate or ask them for help ever again. They are not Christian people . They DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU or YOUR FAMILY.

Great people me and my family are currently here and appreciate all their help they gave my kids new clothes and gave us plenty of food when we got here thank God for them they saved us when we had nowhere to go

Great that they help people in need. My family and I are currently looking for somewhere to go. We have spent the past few months out of a motel that's $200 a week and we can no longer afford it due to having to take time off work because of pregnancy complications and now a recent miscarriage. I cannot return back to work until next week and for the next few weeks, my checks will be short. I called to ask about rent help and the lady by the name of Lola, I believe, answered and told me to call "Shield" Monday after 9am. And as I was going to ask another question, she cut me of and said "Uh huh, ok, bye". And hung up. So I called back, stated I wasn't finished, and asked about emergency shelter. She asked "shelter from what?" I said "emergency shelter like housing and what are qualifications for that?" She then stated "you have to be homeless and we don't have anything available right now." Overall, didn't appreciate being cut off nor did I much care for her tone. If you're going to represent an organization that offers helps, at least sound empathetic, helpful, and corteous. You never know what someone is going through when they call and ask for help. You could SOUND like you care even if you really don't...
