Our first day in NoLa we had 3 wonderful beignets at "Café Beignet" on 311 Bourbon Street. Next day we headed for the famous "Café du Monde" for the best in town. Happy to have found an outside table (crowded) we ordered the world famous beignets. We did not believe what we got: 3 beignets, cut into half ! And for the same price as at "Café Beignet". Besides, we had to pay in cash what we did not have. Sorry to say how disappointed we were. Why on earth want cash where contactless pay is the norm. We left without and certainly know where to get the best beignets in town, what we did that afternoon. Du Monde has the name, Café Beignet not only serves 100% beignets, they are also absolutely fantastic!

Lots of shopping with goofy, off, strange, fun and amusing things to buy.

Honestly, the beignets are way overrated. And it's especially not worth the wait. There are much better beignets at some of the other local restaurants. Try Criollo Restaurant for example.

Get there early and the experience is great. Very cool vibe with great chicory coffee and Beniets. We went two mornings in a row.

There are three Cafe Du Monde but the one on Decatur Street is open 24 hours a day
Yes. They are open on Thanksgiving. They close at 6 PM on Christmas Eve and reopen at 6 AM on December 26.
Yes they do.
I'm not certain of that..I would call.
I went Saturday at 7pm and only waited 5mins in line and 10 mins for service.
Nope.... To my knowledge, it's always been their French style chicory based coffee
They’re best fresh. You can reheat after a few hours but they get stale since they’re fried.
Yes, we went Monday (2/15).
They don't have anything with peanuts on the menu, but as the person above me said, I don't know about the oil.
Yes
Probably the best thing to do is go on yelp
They only accept cash there is no ATM in the area so you will have to find one before you get there or already have cash they do not accept cash at this location there are signs that say cash only no cards and there is no ATM
Haha :) Beignets are donuts ... So your gluten free option is to not eat them and just have the coffee
They close 36 hours for Christmas and during hurricane curfews. The answer to all the other "Yeah, but what about ____?" is, "Yes, they're open."
Always busy.. always WORTH IT!...it's the big easy...RELAX n enjoy!
Goto to the mall The service is faster
Yes, you have to wait in line but there are tables to eat at.
Covid
They have a website you can order off of
Only the uncooked powder mix, amongst other uncooked items and merchandise. For the beignets, it is recommended that you use cottonseed oil to fry them for best results.
No you will need to find parking somewhere else in the French Quarter
Everything is a short walk. While there I stayed at the Embassy Suites on Julia St. That was about a mile. There are too many to name.off the top of my head. It really depends on how much walking you can/want to do.
Agreed with everything that has been said. As a patron, it felt very safe believe it or not, everyone walking around had a mask on, no one I saw didn't have one on, I was surprised. The dining area is open air so it feels as safe as one could in these times. A nice escape from troubling times for a moment.
8AM-8PM Monday-Sunday
They have cleaned the chairs and tables there but are not serving you. You must order on the side and then you can take your order and eat at one of the tables that are clean. Make sure to take cash for your order.
Not sure but you can order it on there web site
I did a search and didn't find west bank mall. But there's one in oakwood mall that opens at 11 am
Street parking and public parking spaces . But good luck finding a parking spot during the peak breakfast/Brunch hour . We had to go back and park our car in the hotel and walk back almost a Mile after we could'nt find any parking spot. So if you are close by around a Mile or so just walk .... Might be easier
There are no "outside" tables here. The two seating areas are full most of the times and the corridors (and spaces among tables) are really narrow. Dogs won't be welcome in such a crowd
Depends on what you're in the mood for. Lots of options in the immediate vicinity. The Central Grocery and Deli is really close by though, where you can try the Muffuletta sandwich in the spot it was invented 😋
Walking or taxi recommended down there. Very limited parking.
It is not necessary but earlier you get more chances you have to take a place where you want to sit and less line to enter. It also depends if you visit in high or low season.
First come, first served. You can arrange the tables and chairs to accommodate your group. Don't miss the opportunity for great coffee and pastry. I wish I had some now, but I live in FL. 😁
No, but you can find a spot along the sidewalk close to the market and you pay for up to 2 hours of parking. And the public parking is close by.
https://www.premiumparking.com/P0401 You can walk there from here.
I'm pretty sure. I would position yourself toward outer tables to be sure. I have seen dogs laying by tables.
Cash only. No gift cards, but they do sell souvenir mugs and have a gift shop nearby to purchase gifts. Unfortunately, no gift cards since the only form of payment they accept us cash. No credit cards, no gift cards.
We found free street parking about two blocks away. It was a short walk.
We went there for traditional time breakfast. Seemed like a long line but it took about 29 minutes from Jackson Square gate. We we're first timers also. Well worth the wait.
They are renowned for Beignets (Donut with sprinkled powdered sugar on it) and Coffee. So, besides it there is nothing to question about the kosher there.
Just have the dairy, you can pass the gas on the walk to the hotel. Make sure youre not walking upwind from me please.
I was told by an employee that they are closed on Christmas Day
In their store and a few of the shops located on street with Cafe Du Monde.
Most hitels are walking distance. No more than a ten minute walk. Trolly oasses you can get online
There is metered parking on the street if available. Otherwise, same as the rest of the French Quarter. But plenty of ways to get around there too.
They only serve beignets, and after you have just one, you will ask at the carnivals for beignets and not funnel cakes any more.
I don't think they have a website to order from like you are thinking. You have to use cash to order from the cafe. You can't even use your debit card.
Take the trolley or depending on your hotel, walk. I saw someone's car get hit on street parking. Trolley $1.25
No, gift shop is not open 24 hours
Yes all day long...the only food that is served is beignets, water, coffee, and cafe au lait....and I think hot chocolate but don't quote me on the hot chocolate.
I am pretty sure they do not have gluten free items, but I could be wrong.
Parking is somewhat limited in the area. Generally, it's easier to park outside the French Quarter and walk
Dont feed ur dog beignets! They do have cafe du monde dog treats sold by register.
They've traditionally done the cans of coffee forever. But you can always purchase some to take home from the cafe or many shops all over town too.
I would think so.
I was told veggie
The best way to get there is to walk. There is not much parking around the area
It's a historical landmark. If you film in New Orleans, it's going to be in your movie
A little
Café du Monde (French (help. · info) ; French for "Café of the World" or "the People's Café"), is a renowned open-air coffee shop located on Decatur Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. It is a New Orleans landmark and tourist destination, known for its café au lait and beignets.
We never waited more than 5 mins to be waited on. Morning and late nights are quick in my experience.
Yes they are in the kitchen... You would do better walking on down to the French Market.
a
They're shut on Christmas day and open up at 6am on the 26th
Peak hours are from 6am to 11pm. Honestly, it is a very busy place but the wait is usually less than 15 minutes from the take out window. Just keep an eye on the tables. There are also tables on the inside, left of the take out window that people forget about. Have you tried an early morning run? Grab some beignets and head over to the river side to watch the sunrise..
No Wi-Fi but there really is no time for it. It's a quick, get in, get out set up
No. The only thing is coffee. The beignets are like sopapillas.
I believe so, as i have seen many. I would simply add that seating is packed. It might be a little tight for larger dogs. Please note you may be in close proximity to others who do not enjoy dining with dogs. So, consider this up front.
