My dog passed away yes and I went in to look at dogs and the place was great! So helpful and kind hearted people! Amazing angels working (volunteering) there and in EVERY dog shelter

If you go to the Athens county dog shelter website they have pictures of all the dogs available. If you click on a thumbnail then you'll see a full picture of the dog and a short bio.
I do believe there is help for people who can't afford it they paid for my friends dog tags. I know they do it for cats somewhere in Athens every so often so I would call and ask them I'm sure they can give you some resources or places to go if they can't but I'm sure they can people donate to them for those reasons.
🤔 Cats or dogs? Dogs I know nothing about but cats are $100. Spayed and neutered and up-to-date on all of their vaccines. Dog shelter does not deal with cats so in order to adopte a cat you need to go through Athens County Humane society. Go to their website and got to adoption. Good luck
No it's for dogs
You can use the spay neuter program in the county. It's the First Thursday of every month the sign up at The Market on State. Discounted rates for certain income guidelines.

Yes if you are the owner of the dog you are droping off
Jan 31st. You can purchase them any day of the year, however you have to pay a late fee after the end of January which doubles the tag price
Same as last few years. $16 for altered dogs and $26 for dogs that are intact

You will need to call the dog shelter at (740) 593-5145. They are open starting at 10 AM every day except Wednesday and Sunday.
We do use lots of blankets and towels for the dogs but right now we have had so many generously donated that we dont have room to store any more for awhile.
