Love this place! Great people doing a great job in sometimes a difficult situation. The animals are so lucky to have such caring and concerned staff!

The woman currently calling the shots at the shelter is absolutely destroying what it use to stand for. She is having animals euthanized that don't deserve to be, meaning in good health & adoptable. She's making NO effort to find rescues for dogs that can be placed in one. This isn't a shelter for animals anymore. We've adopted special needs case animals from here in the past & its sad to know some of our now family would have been put down under the current "leadership". Someone who actually cares about the animals & giving them a chance in life needs to take over because this woman is euthanasia happy & doesn't seem to actually care about the animals that come in.

Very nice staff.

They have lots of dogs available for adoption. Unfortunately there was others families looking at the dogs and not correcting their children from agitating and/or scaring the dogs. They have some older cats and several kittens. We have a full house of pets or I would have gone home with a kitten.

Yes you can fill out the application online and when you go to the facility the adoption process is much easier.
Generally within the same visit at the location, you fill out a form and they ask a few questions. Mine was done within minutes.
They are fully staffed and do answer the phones. Sorry, Julie that you have questions. They are very full with cats and dogs, not including all the new intakes, all the people coming into the shelter. They do the best they can, with what they do have. Check their website for times of operation and maybe go in person. So your questions can be answered in person. Who knows everything could all be done in one visit.
Beth I am so sorry I wasn't able to call you back today. I spoke with the manager at the Currituck Animal Shelter and they can take them no problem.
Yes you would be able to adopt from another city. We just ask that you bring your animals vaccine records and have your landlords phone number or copy of your lease if you rent. Thank you.
We do not board animals at our facility. If you were to surrender an animal to us, after its holding period (3-6 days) it would be available for adoption and would not be held for your return. Instead try some of the local vets. Most of them do offer boarding.
We currently do not. We have Elaina who is younger and sweet as can be. Her picture is on our website.
Depends on what their adoption fee is at the time. I adopted a 28 day old cat so I just had to bring her back in several different times to get her shots that was included in the adoption fee as well as her spay when she was old enough
Yes
They have to be 3 lbs and 3 months. Our dates vary from month to month. We will have January dates available on 12/19/2020.
We are only contracted through Pasquotank and Camden counties. Washington does have a local shelter that should be able to take it in.
It would not. You would have to apply online then go through orientation with us.
What county do you live in? As long as you live in Pasquotank and Camden counties. We will need to schedule an owner surrender appointment though so please call the shelter before bringing them in.
I dont know if you can become a volunteer at 13, but you'd have to go to SPCA and ask to apply
Call animal control. They would pick up. Spca, handles adoption
6 day stray hold. 3 day owner surrender.
They use cash, check and card. With a card there is an additional $2 fee
Our low cost clinic costs $50 to spay or neuter cats and $60 to spay or neuter dogs. They also offer a few other services which are all listed on our website.
Since pit bulls are amoung the hardest dogs to adopt out, it is quite possible.
All volunteers must go through one of our orientation sessions which are scheduled. However once that is complete you may volunteer any time you like when we are open.
We currently don't have any Guinea pigs but we do get them in.
She is trying to mark her territory. This is a new home and she is trying to adjust. If she doesn't have a nice large kittie condo I would suggest getting her one and put it in front of a window if possible. You can get one at Ollie's cheap. Around $60 for a multi level 41/2 - 5ft. When she scratches where she is not supposed to lightly smack her paw (I only use my finger to do this) and place her at the scratch Post using her paws to make scratching motion. Shelters and rescues are over crowded and she will adjust even less without her family
Stray hold is 6 days. Owner surrender with proof of ownership is immediate adoption, if no proof its 3 days
To adopt its 18 and older.
We don't euthanize for space or time. You may also try adoptapet.com to look into rehoming options for your dog. We do schedule owner surrenders so if you do decide that you need to surrender her you will have to call and schedule an appointment with us. What may I ask is your reason for surrender?
Call the sheriff department will put you in touch with animal control
To the struggling single father if you call Peta they will come pick your dog up take it to Virginia and bring it back and it won't cost you anyting they do it for free
Unless you are in the county and have more than 3 dogs you will need a kennel license but just to license them you don't have to.
We use the PETA van, twice a month. You have to call and get on the list.
Yes
Lethal injection is the most widely used method in North Carolina.
