I don't know. We took a trip for the 4th of July Fireworks. Had a great time and highly recommend that or sunset cruise. I would think those areas are open. I just moved here but have business interest in what's happening in the gulf. The islands hold some of the water in. Not allowing it to mix and filter out to sea.

They do have an enclosed downstairs area with air conditioning. As well as a concession area that is air conditioned.

The water at the island was nice when we were there. It was clear enough to see fish swimming in the shallows on the calm side where the ferry docks up.

Ferry is not operating as of April 2021 - they say it will be June until the NPS gets the facilities and docks repaired at the island.

The National Park Service owns most the island now. Has never been busy any time I've been out there. Fairly secluded, quiet time and provides a legitimate "beach" experience vs the non-wave experience on the Sound. Visit the Fort and bring some food. You'll have a relaxing day.

Kids can ride all but the cocktail cruise. The evening cocktail cruise is 21 and over.

Living on the beach isnt cheap. A decent one bedroom is going to be about $600 a month. North Gulfport isnt very safe. Matter fact N of the tracks is sketchy and S of the tracks is outrageous $$. Just look on Trulia.com and Apartments.com and Zillow.com they will show you crime rates in different neighborhoods and will help you find a place according to your budget. There really isnt a lot of people there to help they do have a couple side by sides that they might drive you on but thats about it.

I haven't ever seen jellyfish on West Ship Island. But they could appear anywhere at any time.
