I’ve been an Emancipet patron for almost 10 years & this is the first time I can say I’m disappointed in their services. I get no joy in writing a review like this and have given a great deal of praise to this organization in the past. I’ve donated money on Every visit and it’s not just a $5 donation and there have been plenty of visits. They close their Norwood site for a month because of AC issues???!! Really? Then I go to their “Free Day” at GG park and they’re closed two hours early!! No one would even acknowledge us, instead they stick a “Closed” sign & a tacky homemade note saying they’re at capacity. Emancipet can’t get its act together to get their AC fixed and free days is a joke. I’ll spend the extra and go to my vet. I’ll never recommend Emancipet again. In fact, I’m going to steer people away. The pets in Austin/Travis County deserve better.

Takes a little time to get in but once your in they are super fast and friendly.

It was way cheaper than i thought it would be. And the heart worrm meds are only like 7 bucks a month. 👍
Check out emancipet.org and look for free day schedule. That will get you the most up to date information.
You have to go in person to put your name on the waitlist, which usually takes about an hour. If you decide to leave the promises while waiting, you can leave your number there and they will call you when you are next in line.
Walk ins are available for spay and neuter at their mobile clinics. The mobile clinic arrives at 8 AM, but people line up as early as 6 AM for a spot in line. If you're a Travis County resident, the spay/neuter is free at the mobile clinic. If you're far down the list and don't make the cut for the free spay/neuter in their mobile unit, they give passes for free surgery at their fixed location. https://emancipet.org/mobile/
Yes
Yes, you can do a walk in or you can make an appointment.
Not usually, bloodwork is run for heartworm treatment patients and special surgeries but just off the street new patients? Probably not
Emancipet doesn't offer teeth cleaning as you know but, the best thing is to be sure you choose a reputable place because they actually put the dog under anesthesia for the cleaning.
Need an appt for the vet to check 🐕
these are public questions posted on the maps page, not sent to Emanicpet staff. You should probably give them a call.
I'm pretty sure the flea, tick plus heartworm meds are $9. It's topical.
Not open on Sunday but Monday at 10 and walk in only no appointments needed
Take him to the vet!
Yes they are open. If you call in you have to wait and ask for a call back when it's your turn. You can book apt online
Yes
Show up early and get checked in.
Yes Jonathan you can register your dog as a service animal but you've got to go to a veterinary clinic.
yes they base cost by income
If you go to the mobile unit it is completely free, if you go to the office you pay. You can call them and they will tell you where the next mobile unit will be or either look it up online.
Yes spay and shots at the same tine. No food night before.
No ma'am. I'm sorry. They are not an emergency clinic. I hope your dog gets help.
I'm not sure about the vaccines; but I would like to share a bit of information about Amancipet! My dog had what I thought was, and later hoped was, a spider bite! Within 6 weeks time and 5 different vet opinions that spider bite turned into a tumor; a very large tumor that had massed like a very large Idaho potato above and below his right rear knee. So his leg had to go! Thats what they all said and sadly it was true. I had 6 different quotes and every one of them was over a grand some close to 2000 $! Can you believe that? I was shocked! Emancipet said that they would do it for 450 not to mention I immediately got good vibes from the vet doc! In the end they didnt charge me anything; they said they liked my story! Im not sure what story they were talking about as I knew none of them and didnt disclose any information other than the business at hand! Well im here to say at the time we were homeless, Scamper and I, and I did come up with the money for it wasnt until the day of and
They made me a new one a few years back when the same happened to my dog.
I dont know, might have to call or visit the website.
And as long as they are up to date with vaccinations. They have to see the vet at least once a year depends on the meds u are trying to get also
They sure do. We took our pug to have his teeth cleaned last year. He had to have several teeth pulled while sedated for the cleaning. It was $275 for everything, including meds.
Don't think they offer grooming, they are low cost spay and neuter clinic, great organization!
Emancipet charges $15 per vaccine. Your puppy will likely need 3-4 shots: Rabies, Bordatella, DHPP, and possibly Leptospirosis (depending on your regular activities.) You will also need to get them another 2 shots, DHPP boosters, in the next few months. It is also recommended you get your puppy on a heartworm preventative, which cost around $7 per monthly pill. It is possible you will need to have a heartworm test done beforehand, which will be $20. I take my dog to Emancipet annually for vaccines and heartworm tests and prevention medication, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and while the wait may be long, it is a great affordable veterinary clinic.
No need! Shots are always available. Just walk in! ☺️
If you come to one of the mobile wellness clinics held Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the parvo distemper puppy vaccines are covered by the City/County untill they are 5 months old. Wellnees paperwork and sign up list is put out around 9:15 9:30 AM and services start at 10AM. Lines on Saturdays can get pretty long. Call 311 and ask them where the Freeday locations are, or go to Emancipet.org and click on mobile clinic
You'll have to call and ask them.
For heartworm preventative treatment it about 10 dollars per month depending on dogs weight. It is not a vaccination, you give your dog a pill each month. If your dog is heartworm positive, the treatment can be up to 495 dollars depending on the size of the dog. Emancipet let's you split that cost into two payments. Hope this helps. It's a wonderful place to take your pets for treatment.
They can help with that its a shot and a pill they will give your animal
I paid approximately $50-$60 for everything.
I didn't need an appointment, but I did call ahead to ask what the best time to come in was - they said, "we're not busy now" and off I went. Since you've never been, they will need to examine your dog. Once you've been there before (moving forward), you don't need an appointment and don't even need to bring your dog, you can just stopby and pick up more pills as needed. Its totally worth it; they are fantastic and very affordable!
It is a well check clinic but if it is caused by fleas they can get medicine started to fix that.
15$ per vaccine and 14$ for flea prevention and a 5$ office visit
Sorry you had a rude answer before, none of those people work at an emancipet clinic, they don't shame people with pregnant dogs there and don't like people who do. Now to answer your question, not really. They can give you a "best guess" based on her physical. They won't give her shots just in case bc that can make her or the pups sick. You can either get her spayed quickly to avoid the chance of having puppies. Or if that idea doesn't sit well with you, and I can't blame you, then you can wait until she gives birth and spay + vaccinate her when the puppies are weaned (about 6 weeks old)
At emancipet? About 69$ as of 2018 with an appoitnment
Emancipet is strictly a wellness clinic. Try a different vet clinic.
