My child has special needs that often lead to behavioral issues. This dentist decided he didn’t want to see him. But, He wouldn’t tell me-I kept calling and trying to make appointments. It was extremely rude. The staff at one point emailed me and said —he might give my child another chance. My kid has severe autism- there are medications this doctor could prescribe to help visits go smoothly. We ended up going to a wonderful dentist in another city.

I drive up from the other side of Houston for my multihandicapped son to see Dr Goehring. He is caring, gentle, professional and patient.

The staff incredibly caring and professional. Not only did they work me in a moment of great necessity, they squeezed me in to finish the job so I could go back to eating. I love the staff there! They make going to the dentist a delight!!

The veneers process can take anywhere from two to three appointments, depending on your individual case and smile goals. We’ll be able to give you a more accurate time frame of your treatment plan during your initial consultation with Dr. Goehring.
Yes, veneers can act as a quick alternative to traditional braces and straighten out your teeth. During your free consultation, Dr. Goehring will examine your teeth and assess whether veneers are the most effective solution for you. To get started, give us a call at (512) 892-8822 and we’ll help you achieve a smile you’ll feel proud of.
To take care of your new veneers, it’s important to brush at least twice a day and floss daily. It’s best to avoid hard and sticky foods, like tough meat, popcorn, raw fruits, and candies and limit your consumption of dark foods and beverages, as they can stain your veneers. If you have a history of teeth grinding, we suggest using a nightguard to prevent damaging your new smile. It’s also essential to schedule regular visits with Dr. Goehring for an exam and professional cleaning.
In most cases, veneers are designed to last anywhere from 10 to 15 years with proper care. This includes good oral hygiene habits, like brushing and flossing regularly, along with scheduling bi-annual visits to Goehring Dental. We’ll help maintain your healthy, beautiful smile so it’ll last a lifetime.
There are many benefits when choosing porcelain veneers, such as: Fewer dental visits Minimally invasive treatment Restore gaps or spaces between teeth Improve the shape, size, and length of your teeth Eliminate stained, yellowed or discolored teeth Using the latest technology, Dr. Goehring crafts each veneer to match the look and feel of your natural tooth’s structure -- providing a durable, more attractive way to fix imperfections.
Veneers are thin, porcelain shells that are placed over the surface of your natural teeth and bonded to the surface. They’re crafted to seamlessly blend in with your smile, so no one will be able to tell the difference. Porcelain veneers require less removal of the tooth’s original surface and can cover imperfections associated with shape, size, length, and discoloration. With our natural-looking veneers, our patients can expect a long-lasting cosmetic solution and a more beautiful smile.
Headaches are a common side effect of TMJ issues. Your jaw joints can cause ear pain, jaw pain, and headaches from constantly tense jaw muscles or from issues within your joint. Treatment for TMJ issues can help to relieve these headaches.
One of the potential causes of a TMD is muscle strain from stress. If your jaw muscles are constantly tense, they may begin to spasm from being tired. Learning how to relax your jaw muscles through exercises and relaxation techniques can help relieve these spasms and help with your TMD.
Yes, your jaw joints are located on both sides of your head near your ears. Because of this location, they may impact your ears. In fact, hearing loss is not uncommon with TMJ issues. Thankfully, if your hearing loss is due to a TMD, you’ll likely regain your hearing with TMJ therapy.
Jaw popping while chewing isn’t necessarily a sign of a TMD, but it’s best to get it checked out just in case. Over time, your jaw popping may become painful and cause difficulty throughout your day. Dr. Goehring can recommend exercises and preventive measures so your TMD doesn’t get worse. If you’re not experiencing jaw pain, there’s a chance you can avoid it altogether.
No, ear pain when chewing or yawning isn’t normal. This type of pain may be caused by a TMD. Your TMJ is located on either side of your head around your ears, so an issue in that area can cause pain in your ears. Treatment for a TMD can ease the pain in your ears or head so you can chew, speak, and yawn without pain.
There are many reasons why your jaw can hurt while chewing, but a TMD is a common cause. If there’s an issue with your TMJ, you’ll likely experience jaw pain, headaches, and jaw popping when you open your mouth. The causes of TMDs vary because the area around your jaw joint is a complex area. There are many different causes and some people may have more than one contributing factor to their TMD.
If your TMJ issues are causing daily pain and difficulty speaking or chewing, we highly recommend coming in to see Dr. Goehring for an examination. He can determine the severity of your TMD and find a treatment option that suits your needs. Even if your TMJ doesn’t cause significant stress to you, it can become worse over time. It’s best to find a treatment that works for you before your TMD progresses further and causes more pain.
There is no one cause of a TMD and because the joint is a complex area, there are many factors that can affect your TMJ. Some of the known or theorized causes of a TMD include disk erosion, disk displacement, cartilage damage, arthritis, and damage to the joint. Symptoms of a TMD The most common symptoms of a TMD are: A sore jawbone joint Inflammation in the jawbone or joint Neck and shoulder pain An aching face or jaw Swollen lymph nodes Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) Headaches If you experience these symptoms, call our office at (512) 892-8822 so we can schedule an appointment for you to see Dr. Goehring. Treating your TMD as soon as possible is important because the disorder can worsen over time.
While many people refer to jaw popping and pain as simply TMJ, your TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint. Everybody has two TMJs on either side of their head, located near the ears. A temporomandibular disorder, or TMD, is an issue with these joints.
Dentures enable you to smile, speak properly, and eat after you’ve lost teeth. But they do also come with more maintenance, especially since they’ll become looser over time. Your dentures may begin to slide around in your mouth and can even fall out. When this happens, you can either bring in your current dentures to be fixed, get a new set of dentures, or choose a more permanent solution -- dental implants. Implants can stabilize your dentures so they won’t slide around, and they provide benefits that no other tooth-replacement option can. Dental implants are the only tooth loss solution that also restores jawbone strength, so you can look younger by maintaining your jawline. We can either permanently attach your dentures to implants so they never have to be removed, or make the dentures snap on to the implants so they can be removed.
Cleaning your dentures properly is very important, especially because a good hygiene routine can help to prevent stains. Swishing water around your mouth after drinking coffee or other dark-colored drinks can help to wash away anything left on your dentures. Brushing your dentures with a soft-bristled toothbrush twice every day also helps to keep stains from taking hold. It’s important to use a gentle toothbrush because regular toothbrushes can scratch your denture and cause harm to them. If your dentures already have stains, denture cleaning tabs and denture cleaning solutions are available in stores. These are specially formulated for dentures, so they won’t harm them. Just make sure you thoroughly rinse off your dentures before putting them back in your mouth.
Dentures are made from high-quality materials that are meant to look natural and feel comfortable throughout the day. The teeth are usually made from resin or porcelain so they look like natural teeth yet are strong enough for you to eat the foods you want to. The gums of the dentures are made from either a similar resin material or a flexible polymer that fits around the gum line. Dr. Goehring will take an impression of your gums so your dentures can be custom-made to fit you comfortably.
Many dental insurance plans cover at least part of the cost of dentures. If you want to find out the details of your coverage, we recommend that you contact your insurance provider. They’ll be able to help you find out how much of the cost of dentures is covered under your plan. If you’re concerned about affording dentures, Goehring Dental can offer financing options through CareCredit®. Through these plans, you’ll be able to break down your treatment cost into affordable monthly payments. That way, you can get the treatment you need without breaking the bank.
If your dentures broke, call our office at (512) 892-8822 to schedule an appointment for Dr. Goehring to examine them. While you may be able to temporarily repair your dentures at home, quick fixes may not last for very long and some may be dangerous. Your denture repair depends on how your dentures are broken. If a small piece of your denture has broken off, like a tooth, you may be able to reattach it with a denture repair kit. But if your denture has broken in half, home repair isn’t an option and may cause harm to you. It’s important to remember that these fixes won’t last very long and the only way to permanently repair your dentures is by taking them to a professional.
If your dentures are loose or don’t fit properly, call our office at (512) 892-8822 so we can help you over the phone or by scheduling an appointment for you. Over time, your dentures will likely become loose due to everyday wear and tear. Dr. Goehring can examine your dentures and suggest the best solution for you. You may consider relining your current dentures, getting a new pair of dentures, or a more permanent solution that won’t come loose, like dental implants.
If you encounter a dental implant complication, call our office as soon as possible by dialing (512) 892-8822. We can set up an appointment with Dr. Goehring so he can examine your implant and diagnose the issue. Complications with dental implants are rare because the procedure is highly successful. But if you feel tingling in your mouth or lips, numbness, an infection, or sinus issues, there may be a problem. Dr. Goehring can help you through these complications.
Most dental insurance plans cover part of the cost of dental implants, but your coverage may vary. To find out the details of your dental implant insurance coverage, we recommend contacting your insurance provider. Our office can help you find a payment option that suits you if you call us at (512) 892-8822. We accept a variety of payment options and we offer financing through CareCredit®. With a financing plan, you can pay for your dental implants in affordable monthly installments.
Yes, dental implants are safe. The materials used to create dental implants are biocompatible, so they don’t cause adverse effects in most people. Your implant will become a natural part of your jawbone if your procedure is successful. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement solution that also keeps your jawbone strong. When you lose a tooth, your jawbone eventually begins to disintegrate and weakens -- this endangers the rest of your teeth and makes you look older. Implants prevent this from happening.
Dental implants are easy to take care of -- simply brush and floss your teeth, treating your dental implant just like any other tooth. The best tools for dental implant care are a soft-bristled toothbrush, non-abrasive toothpaste, and gentle floss. While caring for your dental implants on a daily basis is easy, proper post-operative care is essential for the success of your implant. While your dental implant surgical site is healing, avoid using a straw, be gentle when spitting, and eat soft foods. Dr. Goehring will provide detailed care instructions for after your surgery and also for daily care.
The cost of dental implants varies depending on your situation and whether you require supplemental procedures. These procedures are aimed at increasing the chance of success for your implant if you have bone loss or gum recession. Your insurance coverage also plays a role in how much your implants will cost for you. Many insurance providers cover at least part of the cost of dental implants -- we recommend contacting your provider for the details of your coverage. If you’re concerned about affording dental implants, we can help you. Our office accepts a variety of payment options and offers financing plans through CareCredit®. You may be able to break your treatment costs down into affordable monthly payments.
Dental implants last for decades and can even last for a lifetime. They’re created from high-quality, durable materials that integrate naturally with your jawbone. Implants keep your jawbone strong, making you less likely to lose other teeth. Taking proper care of your dental implants helps them to last longer. Luckily, dental implants don’t require much special care -- just brush and floss them as if they’re natural teeth. We do recommend using a soft-bristled toothbrush, gentle floss, and non-abrasive toothpaste so you don’t scratch your implants.
