We all know this church is greedy after the whole Breton Woods incident, but last Sunday and today has made me ask more questions about the true motives of this church. I have been coming here my entire life, have seen many priests come and go, and have seen them sellout multiple times to make money. Before mass is ended, the pastor and priests have promoted getting c0vid boosters and flu shots in the church. Why is Visitation promoting something that was developed with aborted fetal cells? How much money are they getting in kickbacks for administering these shots? Are they aware that multiple countries have stopped administering these shots because of the health risks? At the end of the day, it seems to me as if this church is more concerned about money than the community of their people. Remember this, the "church" isn't the building, it is the people inside that make it up! And without the people, Visitation is just an empty building.

This church is a sell out for money! They sold almost 40 acres they own to a developer! How does a church own all this land anyways? They want our donations but make MILLIONS from selling our woods? This church NOTHING about the community! It's all ABOUT THE MONEY! The city offered to buy it from them but I guess it wasn't enough money?

I love my Church. It is my special place full of love. So many ministries and wonderful people always willing to help others. Fr. Ed has been a great influence in our Church bringing us all together, always with a wonderful smile and spiritual grace.

This church sold FORTY acres of land to a developer to be knocked down and would not return the calls of the town that wanted to preserve this much needed land. What kind of church does this??? Choosing money over God's beautiful creation??? When it wasn't even necessary to murder all of those trees and take away the homes of the animals??? Taking away our beautiful natural resources in an already overcrowded and nature-less town. Enough is enough. The greed of whoever has done this WILL come out. Practice what you preach. Greed is a deadly sin. Jesus would NEVER. So SO disappointing that this is what the church is teaching these days. This is HEARTBREAKING. The church is supposed to be for the people, in honor of God. This is taking away our oxygen and pushing animals to be killed in the streets. That is extremely ungodly. We need MORE nature. Not less. How are we supposed to keep faith if the church is not even in our favor. We need a major change. Get your money from the town that wants to preserve the land. Do not disappoint us...

Debra, Rhere have been discussions about using the land as open space since 2013, when the proposal to use the land for religious purposes had been overwhelmed due to CAFRA requirements and the possibility of the land being sold to developers first came up, no offers had been made. Previously-made claims that agencies or the Township had made offering to purchase the land are unsubstantiated; neither the parish nor the diocese have any records of calls being received in this regard. Regarding the monetary aspect that was mentioned: it is my intent to use the proceeds from the sale, connected with funds raised from a capital campaign administered for the purpose years ago, to build a long-overdue Faith Formation center on the remaining parish-owned property. Hopefully this provides, if not a satisfying answer, one that explains why Visitation Parish must move forward on this as it has.
Connie, thank you for your question! The daily Chapel is located in the Rectory, the yellow brick building at the end opposite the main church of the parking lot. The Chapel entrance faces the parking lot.
Lisa, using phrases such as "greedy", "money hungry" and "payoff" might provide a clue as to why calls are no longer being returned. It might do well to keep in mind that civil discourse is more likely to evoke a response. To your question: despite what different groups have been saying, although there were discussions about using the land as open space since 2013, when the proposal to use the land for religious purposes had been overwhelmed due to CAFRA requirements and the possibility of the land being sold to developers first came up, no offers had been made. Claims that agencies have made offering to purchase the land are unsubstantiated; neither the parish nor the diocese have any records of calls being received in this regard. Visitation does not offer a Sunday night Mass. Our Masses are Saturday at 4 and Sunday at 9 and 11. St. Dominic's is the closest parish with a 5PM Sunday Mass.
He is assigned here at Visitation.
Yes, at St Vincent DePaul in the Seeds of Service building.
Although we do not have a ministry specifically dedicated as outreach, we work with all members of our parish community, receiving them with love and respect. Our work with the LGBT community conforms to the teachings of the Catholic Church, specifically as discussed in the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' document "Ministry to Persons with a Homosexual Inclination: Guidelines for Pastoral Care" (http://www.usccb.org/about/doctrine/publications/homosexual-inclination-guidelines-pastoral-care.cfm). The Christian life is a progressive journey toward a deepening of one’s discipleship of Christ. People do not all move forward at the same pace, nor do they always proceed in a direct line toward their goal. Those who stumble along the way - and that is all of us, in one way or another - should be encouraged to remain in the community and to continue to strive for holiness through conversion of life.
I am afraid that there is no parish-supplied transportation. However, we do have parishioners living in Shore Acres who can provide car-pooling; you can ask neighbors or the Rectory might be able to help connect you. Taxis and related services are available in that area as well.
