I don’t want to bash housing, but they need to do a lot better. I am a single mom. And been blessed to have a place to stay through them. However, they need to have gotten tougher on the landlords about not maintaining a descent and sanitary place, where the residents are residing, in which the Atlanta housing authority is paying for them to reside there. the place I reside at in colonial square apartment. Is a roach infested apartment. The landlord doesn’t fix anything. The trash can bin is always over flooded with trash. Even all over the ground. Windows are broken here and the landlord still doesn’t fix anything. My car window was was broken by a bad lil teenager boy who lived here. And the landlord still didn’t care. So please people choose wisely where you stay at are try to find somewhere else better than sec8 cause once you receive the voucher. Finding a much better place to reside at with the voucher is slime to zero. Now I have to find another place to live with my child. Simply because my slumlord is not doing her job, and Atlanta housing authority stop paying rent to her. So now I am having to move out September 30, 2022. Less than two weeks. And don’t know where me and my child will move to. Lord what do I do.

Iam a single male collecting ssi and ssdi how long would I have to wait
I have no first hand experience, but my best friend has. People have to either die or move for housing to open up. The government cannot predict how long it will take for the right amount of people to die or move to make a space for you. There are many different housing locations. If you are open to living in any of the locations, you will get a place faster. Also, persistence pays off. Don't give up. You are the only one who has the time to keep looking and calling and asking what you need to do. It isn't that people don't care. There has to be order in the process, don't expect others to do the work to research your options. Make the phone calls and take notes. The more you know about the system, the better. Stating your desperation will not create more housing or even move you ahead in line. I wish you all success in finding ways to meet your needs.
People in high places don't care about any one, but themselves, they are dispicable!!! JESUS is on his way back!!!
Yes
Yes that's the Only program properties Are doing. No more voucher program. Tax credit or Low income BASED apartments. AHA won't tell Anyone the truth!!!
There is based off income housing, but most only accept you if your disabled or have dependents.
Go to affordablehousing.com and apply all over the united states most rural places comes thru within months but big over crowded cities like New York takes, New Jersey etc years
You have to call atlanta housing authority to find out
Just give them a call they will let you know
It depends on who you know
Call AH at 404-892-4700 and ask the customer service representative. It may depend on if your sister is alreafy on your voucher. If she's on your lease yes, but if not im not sure you can. Please call this number for clarity. I only do inspections for housing.

Go to Atlanta Housing Authority and fill out a application for housing. You will probably need to bring verification for your situation such as doctor report verifying disability and if you are working at all you will need a letter from your job.
Call 211
Go to the dept of social they will help you and put you in school or whatever your need is they have an employment section they will help you find a job

It's no set amount....section 8 is value amount now. So if the house is value at 900 but the landlord asking for 1200 section will say no but we will pay you 1000 its up to the landlord to accept it or not

No! You'll still be paying for a two bedroom apartment.
Crime in traffic is still high in both places
Can you name some places?
There doors are open to go inside.
It doesn't take long at all if your housing Authority sends all your paperwork on time it would move smoothly
It took them 5 years to get to me
If I'm not mistaken you have to go on line and depending what city you're in if it's Atlanta for example atlanta.gov and go from there if its should have certain links to click on
No and don't waste your time
Move to Dekalb County or DCA housing. There are no houses for Atlanta vouchers. Its very hard to find something. Im in deklab and its hard. Peoplw are losing their vouchers in Atlanta. Try the outskirts. Its also a work program for section 8 if you don't have a job you cannot port in to city of Atlanta. Join looking for housing in GA on Fb and In need of housing in GA on fb. They will tell you the deal. Dont do it!!
Good morning Patricia, We would need more information to answer the question fully, but the on-site manager and staff should be able to answer your question in detail.

Yes, First you have to call your current Housing Voucher program and ask them if your Voucher is portable. If they say yes then you have to contact the Housing Authority in the Area you want to move to and see if they are accepting any port Vouchers

Hi Tony. There are a few different programs that AH operates or supports. If you're asking about our Housing Choice Voucher Program, the waitlist is closed, but if you are a veteran and working with a case manager at the VA, or if you have a case manager through Health and Human Services, or the city's Continuum of Care, there may be opportunities for specialized vouchers. Besides that, there are a list of communities that AH supports one our website that might have openings on their waitlist. For more information, visit our Housing Options page at: https://www.atlantahousing.org/housing-programs/housing-options/
Our contact center is currently open, so if you need services, you can always call at 404.892.4700 between 8AM-5PM.

Hi Dennis! We would love an opportunity to review your qualifications. Please visit our website to see open opportunities or submit your resume to be held on file. https://www.atlantahousing.org/careers/
It's based on your income and the unit bedroom size
Hi Sheiola, The process for securing housing assitance can be different. People are housed through the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) and the waiting list is curently closed while we work with the approximately 25,000 households that are current on it. For those who receive a voucher through HCVP, we have a team of housing counselors that will assist searchers looking for units. We also have a marketing department that does constant outreach to investors and developers in order persuade them to accept the HC vouchers. We do partner with multifamily communities that manage their own waitlists and leasing and you can find that list on our website on the "Housing Options" page or go directly to the list at: https://www.atlantahousing.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/pbra-listings.pdf. You would have to contact those communities directly.
Depends on the area you lived in the City. There are 23 submarkets and the range varies significantly
There are but its hard finding a Landlord that will accept the voucher or program. Good Luck to you!

Call the Housing Authority of the City and State you live in.
Yes if you want to live in the Atlanta area , but you can apply for vouchers in different counties if you want to live in another area of the city.
