What if I have a loved one struggling with addiction but they refuse to get help?

That's a pretty common problem. We're actaully very good at engagin reluctant clients, so if the family can get them to come in for just a few sessions, we can usually get the the person to engage in the process. However, sometimes the person flat out refuses to come. If that's your situation, here are 2 good options: 1. We offer coaching sessions for families, where we can help you develop a stragetic plan for how to get your loved one to get help (whether that is with us or any other treatment center). We can teach you how to effective broach the subject and motivate your loved one to take action. If you'd like to learn more about that, visit this page. http://bit.ly/38JKl05 2. Also also have an Online Family Recovery Academy that teaches families how to use the CRAFT method to motivate their loved ones toward recovery. The CRAFT method is proven to be the most effective way to get someone to get help. To learn more, visit this page: http://bit.ly/2HH1fQU

What do you do if you have a loved one who is struggling with a drug or alcohol problem but they won’t admit it?

Hope For Families Recovery Center | Oct 23, 2018
Hope For Families Recovery Center | Oct 23, 2018

It’s natural for people to feel defensive about having a drug or alcohol problem. Denial is a very complex defense mechanism. Sometimes the person denies a problem completely, and other times they know they have a problem but minimize the severity. At Hope For Families we specialize in what I you might call a functional alcoholic or addict. These are people that haven’t lost everything (or haven’t “hit bottom”). Generally, these individuals know they over do it sometimes, but don’t feel they are an addict or alcoholic. Mostly because they have very stereotypical views about what that means. Trying to force someone to admit they have a drug or alcohol problem is counter productive. DON’T DO IT! Instead, empathasize with their reasons for using before you give opinions. ( because they’re anxious, because they are young and lots of people do it, because they are stressed, etc....) Once you’ve verbalized your empathy, the person is going to be much more open to hearing you.

Do you treat teens with substance abuse problems?

Hope For Families Recovery Center | Oct 23, 2018
Amber Hollingsworth | Oct 23, 2018

Yes, we treat teens, young adults, adults, and families for all types of substance abuse problems and other addiction related issues. However, we never see young people unless their families is involved. One of our specialities is engaging reluctant people into treatment (especially young people). They may not want to come in initially, but once they do, they usually like coming and decide they want to continue.

Are you accepting new clients?

Hope For Families Recovery Center | Oct 23, 2018
Amber Hollingsworth | Oct 23, 2018

Yes, we are accepting new clients. However, we never schedule more than 2 new admissions/week into our Intensive Outpatient Services Programs. This is to ensure that all new clients get the time and attention they need to get off to a good start.
