I recently needed hospitalization and although I was completely satisfied with Eastern Regional Med Ctr's nursing and medical staff's care and professionalism, what is it with the strong mint smell that permeated my room? On the last day I was there while sitting on my bed so the CNA could take my last vitals before discharge, as the CNA walked by me, a mint spray or mist came from somewhere that coated my head and face. It was strong. Where did it come from? Did it come from the nurse's aide, because I could not see on the walls or ceiling the spray's origin? Why is the mint spray so strong? VA Administrators, patients should not smell a VA facility they were treated, days after discharge. Please adjust your policy and decrease the saturating mint smell that falls just short of being a foul lingering odor in patient's rooms. Thank you.

Some of us travel from out of state. Veteran beware. You will be waiting months (6 or more is common) to get your travel pay. They paid a billion dollar more for this facility than planned, but they can pay a Veteran a few hundred dollars in a timely manner. They owe me for my last 5 trips with the oldest claim now being over 6 months. I just changed my PCP today to in the community in my state. I recommend any vet traveling to Aurora for care to exercise your right and leave the VA system.

I get amazing care at the VA - especially the SCI Clinic and neurology.

The mental health clinic has been absolutely awful. I made an appointment 2 months in advance. On the day of my video appointment, I wait in the call for an hour before I decide to call them and they tell me the appointment has been cancelled without even notifying me. Then they tell me I have to wait another 2 months for an appointment when what I need is time sensitive. Since then I have been calling several times in a day where I get no answer and no call back after leaving a message. 10/10 do not recommend. Several calls and voicemails and this place still has not contacted me with some way to help me. I was told they would contact me with some information on how to render this situation fruitful and that was a lie. This a sad facility, way to take care of the people that need your help.

Hi Thomas, we're sorry to hear you weren't satisfied about your experience with us. Throughout the pandemic we have been experiencing a wave of unusually higher than normal call volume and have actually expanded our call center hours to 24/7 operations and are now available whenever you need something addressed. Additionally, if you would like to make any suggestions on how we can serve you better, please call our Patient Liaisons at 720-723-6766. Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback so we can improve and provide you with the best care possible.
Go away Karen. Mistakes happen. OIG doesn't care that the system didn't check you in.
Negative
They told us all Mileage Reimbursement is done online.
I suggest asking for a patient advocate.
The south patient parking garage is almost entirely disabled parking, and there are people who come around in golf carts to assist as well!
Yes. It is located in th3 2 or 3 story building that faces Colfax Avenue. You dont have to have an appointment.
Building E1. Go in South entrance, take a left, its the first Building on the left. Go down the hallway and ask which clinic it is. There are 3 in there. 1 simply means First Floor. I work in E1 in lodging
Curtis the North ADA compliant parking lot is not next to the labs and Primary Care sir. I highly encourage the use of the SOUTH lot for several reasons: 90% of all clinics are conducted in Building E, less than 100 yds from S. Entrance. Also, all our Volunteers able to assist with wheelchairs, O2, etc, are mainly at S. Entrance. Also S. Entrance is closest to Business Center, Pharmacy, Travel, and the Cafeteria. I do appreciate your posting for Vets, but please verify the accuracy as it is confusing enough for the transition! Thanks so much!
Yes. This facility is moving to 1770 willing street aruora colorado. The spelling of the street might not be correct, but the number is.
Who are you trying to call?
If you park in the main parking garage on either end of the main building all of the buildings are inside the main VA main building so if you walk from either end inside there are easy directions to whichever bldg you need to go to. My first time I was a little confused and there is a help desk. Everyone is very helpful there.
No
MyHealthyVet
It was created by a member of our VFW Post 1, Rod Ford is the artist and of course a Veteran
North is the employee parking, and the South is the research center.
Yes but no! The VA may treat it for a veteran . First contact the vsts local VA and make a appointment for a physical. Go.to the appointment with the vet and discuss any concerns you have with the vets wellbeing. If the vet hasn't registered with the va do it, help them with it. Thats the real first step. Some regular hospitals have resources or contacts with the va. Be patient it can take a lot of time to get things moving. Covid back logged appointment. Go to va.gov
Building D Floor 2
As of last week not really strict.2-4 visitors ok they didnt give us a limited time of visiting hours either however that could change as they had more covid patients coming in.
I believe you need an order. .?
I can't answer. I'm being fitted with hearing aids later this month. Sorry!

I believe there is a park nearby. Maybe you could park there. Google it though cuz I'm not sure it's within walking distance of the facility.
I don't recall seeing any low clearance warnings. There's lots of uncovered parking across the street to the West.
Hello Pete - First of all, I sincerely thank you for your service! Please visit https://www.denver.va.gov/patients/eligibility.asp for information about enrollment. You can also visit our Business/Eligibility Office on the first floor of Rocky Mountain Regional VAMC to get started (M-F, 8am-4:30pm). Please bring your Military ID and DD-214 with you. - All the best
Good morning. I would advise you reach out to a VA Social Worker. They'll be able to give you options.
It's the VA. A month is like a day, almost biblical. Be patient. If it were more money involved than travel expense reimbursement, I'd call my Congressman. How did you like our new Taj Mahal?
If it was service connected, treatment doesn't cost the patient anything
Yes
As long as they are enrolled for benefits, as a combat veteran, they should provide hearing aides. They may require an exam first. There are a few exceptions, you should call the main number and speak to someone who can give you an exact answer.
Hi William, talk to your VA medical team to see how they might be able to help you with a service dog. Here's a FAQ page that may help: https://www.prosthetics.va.gov/psas/Guide_And_Service_Dogs_Frequently_Asked_Questions_FAQS.asp
You'll have to talk to your Primary Care Manager first.
A little late, but to answer your question: The VA is only closed on national holidays, so we were open on the day following the Fourth. Thanks!
There's also the Fisher house for you if your vets in the hospital.

Yes. You can not go via ambulance though. Walk in only.
Audiology is on FIRST FLOOR, Building G. Utilizing MyHealthEVet is a great way to request a consult via your PACT team. If you need a hearing test or in depth treatment a you will not be able to just walk in.
Outpatient lab is in Bldg F, 1st floor. All veterans must pull a number at the kiosk for appointments and walk in.
I would call first
Patient Parking North has a high clearance parking area. 😀

Call the VA Patient Advocate
Summer of 2018
Be careful with the patient advocate, I was blamed for the Brain Injury I received from getting blown up in iraq by the patient advocate named Carrie
9th and Colorado Blvd
There is a homeless clinic in the VAMC, on the 3rd floor of the E wing. There are certain times you have to be there to be able to get a spot in a shelter. There are some shelters in the city that hold places for veterans going through this program. They can give you more information about housing help as well.
Your husband can as the vet. You, however, cannot. Most specialty clinics offer fantastic service. The primary care is hit or miss when it comes to their doctors.
