A once lovely and charming hotel enters its twilight years. My husband and I splurged for one of their studio apartment rooms and were extremely disappointed. It was weathered, furniture chipped, mid-matched furniture in the room, stains on the carpet, and headboard. Not worth it. I’ve stayed in regular rooms bed and they were fine so this was very surprising.

Great location in mid town 5 min walk from Central lots of local amenities. Staff friendly the only thing is it was advertised with food and rooftop bar and we never seen or heard of either of these. Still great rooms ask for a room with empire state building view.

Beautiful rooms, spotlessly clean and soundproofed to perfection. The location is nothing short of perfect for tons of Manhattan attractions. The only flaw, the service: the staff is not exactly kind and helpful. We had a couple of problems during our stay, which were resolved with difficulty, and we were always treated with arrogance, without them helping us to understand when at reception they were speaking too fast for us. Ah, terrace not received because apparently it is already closed and they won't reopen it until next year.

We took it to Newark and it worked fine. Arrived at Shelburne on time, stopped at a few hotels and arrived at the airport in due time

If you ate food provided in the mini fridge, it was likely the reason for the charge. Other reasons could include lost / missing items or room damage. It could be an error. I suggest calling the hotel for clarification as with the provided information, random internet people will know no more than you do.
