This place keeps going deeper and deeper into a hole. When you let your title get to your head, and you become power hungry, everyone will watch your demise. This place won't be able to stay afloat much longer, even with a second bankruptcy under its belt. Upper ivory tower doesn't know right from left, but tries to control every move without much knowledge on most things. That's a recipe for disaster. Most issues are brushed under the rug, covered up. In the real world, the things that come out of a CEO or Director's mouth that are inappropriate, have consequences...not in this place. HR is a dumber than a brick wall. The residents have no idea what transpires behind the scenes and how poor upper management treats other employees. If i can predict the future, I would say the CEO will be removed from position within the next year. She botched the whole operation single-handedly and continues to do so.

Nice place if you have money to pay for it. Most people are friendly. Some employees have been there for a long time and treat residents nicely, also my folks. But you can tell they get away with a lot and dont get caught or reprimanded. Turning a blind eye to laziness, a lot strange comments i hear and touchy feely things i see, stealing, will eventually effect that place if it hasnt already. also how many times do you send up someone to fix something and they pretend to fix it but they dont. Then after complaining and complaining, you send up the one guy who always comes to save the day? might as well just have him work and get rid of the others. it happens almost every time without fail. It's none of my business let them deal with it. A lot of pros and a lot of cons. at least its safe for my folks.

These guys spam my phone with automated messages like crazy. Be careful about giving them your phone number!

The Amsterdam at Harborside is a great place to enjoy an active life after retirement and it also has an added bonus – The Tuttle Center which I will describe later. My wife and I can find something to do every day. We can enjoy the pool and gym, attend lectures and musical entertainments, go to happy hour, do a little yoga or tai chi, join a card group, etc. And if we want to start up some other activity, we can do that too. We also enjoy dinner time (a meal plan is part of the package) because it is like one big family at The Amsterdam and we get to eat with different people every night. Now, I’ll talk about that bonus, the Tuttle Center. It is part of the complex and offers a full range of health facilities which are available to residents of the Amsterdam, and all of it is available at no extra charge. For instance, if you break some bones while still an active resident, the Tuttle Center which is attached will take care of the rehab. And your spouse and friends can visit you often since it just requires walking through a door. Two years ago I did some rehab time in the Tuttle, and I got to know first-hand the value it offers. No matter what happens in the future, it is reassuring to us to realize that all of the services of the Tuttle including assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care and hospice will be there for us – and at no extra charge. In the meantime, we can relax and enjoy The Amsterdam. An update 5 years later June 13, 2020 The pandemic has obviously slowed us down a bit, but I must say that the staff has done a remarkable job (as usual) of keeping the virus under control and introducing new programs like Zoom to keep us connected. It will be great to get back to using the dining room, but in the meantime, the folks in the kitchen have done a remarkable job of getting meals delivered to our rooms. On top of that, our new chef really knows how to make it all very tasty.
